“You don’t get it! If I abandon Yara, won’t Mr. Zahn Senior think I’ll abandon his daughter too? A man who’s unfaithful in love isn’t someone anyone can trust. Ms. Lowell, do you still trust Dr. Hart?” Joseph argued.

Cora replied, “Of course, I do! Even if he had a dozen mistresses, I would still trust him.”

Joseph asked, “Are you willing to tolerate all that to make it up to him?”

“Don’t be ridiculous! My husband is the only man I have,” stated Cora. She suddenly lost her appetite. Leaving behind a flash drive, she got up and left.

The flash drive contained information about Owen’s daughter. Cora wanted Joseph to look it over carefully so that he would at least be mentally prepared when the time came for Joseph to choose between Owen’s daughter

and Yara.

“Cora, you truly are a scheming woman. It looks like you know the Zahn family inside and out. That’s why you had the nerve to openly challenge them over the Provora project,” mumbled Joseph.

Since separating from Lowell Group, none of Cora’s clients had abandoned her. If anything, they might have become even more confident in her.

Perhaps some people saw her as a woman whose wealth could be acquired along with her. If so, there was no harm in helping her grow even stronger.

Was Cora a tigress, or just a stupid sow?

Joseph’s gaze turned cold and ruthless. There was no way he could allow Cora’s family to keep growing stronger.

Joseph ordered Oliver and the others to travel to another state. They would wait for an opportunity to attack the representatives from the Dixon family.

Every one of these patients was a relative of Owen’s, and they were responsible for managing various businesses and assets belonging to Owen.

Joseph arranged for his people to treat them. His principle was that no one was allowed to die. As for keeping minor illnesses in the hospital longer than necessary or sending patients with relatively minor injuries straight into intensive care, that was well within his control.

His real objective was to keep these relatives confined to the hospital, leaving the Zahn family desperately short of people to handle their affairs and creating a vacuum of power. It was only then that he could rise through the ranks quickly.

Just as Joseph had expected, it didn’t take long before he received a call ordering him back to Emerald Mountain.

Joseph went to Yara’s ward and arranged for her to be temporarily discharged. He said, “Yara, we’re going back to Emerald Mountain. Mr. Zahn Senior will decide what happens to our marriage.

“If he tells you to give me up, don’t you dare agree. If you do, you’re finished. I won’t give up either. Our love is unshakable. Do you understand?”

Yara asked, “Why won’t you give up? Isn’t this the opportunity you’ve been waiting for? I’m nothing more than the stepping stone you need to reach the top.”

Joseph replied, “Don’t you understand? Think about it some more later. For now, don’t ask any questions. Just remember that you must insist that you won’t marry anyone but me, and I’ll insist that I won’t marry anyone but you.”

“I’m your puppet. Do I even have a choice?” Yara said. She had no choice but to follow Joseph’s orders.

They entered Emerald Mountain without any trouble. After resting for a while, they were taken to Owen’s residence that evening, where they would have dinner with him.

Joseph finally saw Owen. Owen looked nothing like what Joseph had imagined. Joseph had expected someone who had maintained his appearance remarkably well despite his age. Instead, Owen looked very old.
