Chapter 754
Yara said, “I was in the guest room on the other side. In my condition, I couldn’t go anywhere. Mr. Zahn Senior agreed to let me break off our engagement and leave you.
“I told him I wouldn’t marry anyone but you. He reprimanded me and eventually threatened me. If I weren’t already disabled, he would have hit me.”
Joseph asked, “What did Judy and I do in that room? Did you hear anything?”
Yara answered, “Of course, I did. I heard Judy make all those noises. It was awkward. You told me I had to marry you, but you went and slept with Judy. You’re unbelievable.”
Joseph instantly denied it. “I didn’t sleep with her. I was unconscious the entire time. There’s no way anything happened between us. Besides, I could tell my body was still completely unaffected.
“We were in Mr. Zahn Senior’s place. Do you truly think Judy would have actually done anything with me? She was planted there to frame me. Those sounds were just for you to hear. You’ve probably already passed your test. Tomorrow, it’ll be my turn for the final test.”
Yara questioned, “What are they going to test you on?”
Joseph replied, “Marrying Judy? It probably isn’t something that simple. I’ll keep insisting that I won’t marry anyone but you. As long as we stick to the plan we made before coming here and respond to every situation without changing course, we’ll both make it out safely.
“Yara, we need to help each other. From now on, I’ll turn a blind eye and let you stay with Joseph.”
Yara asked skeptically, “Would you really be that magnanimous?”
Joseph responded, “Of course not. That’s why you need to give me money. If I have enough money, I’ll find other women. You do your thing, and I’ll do mine. You’ll also have to help me get on Cora’s bad side. She’s something else. If I don’t get her, I’ll feel like I’ve got an itch in my throat that I can’t scratch.”
“Look at you,” muttered Yara contemptuously.
Just moments ago, Owen’s people had set them up, and the whole situation had involved Joseph and Cora. Yet, Henry had still been bold enough to make such shameless demands. Still, Yara was grateful to Henry for being willing to let her remain with Joseph.
The two of them spent the rest of the night going over their plans, and nothing else happened. The next day, Joseph was summoned early. As for Owen’s demand that Joseph return to apologize, Joseph just pretended he had never heard it.
Owen asked, “Why are you here alone? Where’s Yara?”
Joseph explained, “She had a bit of a runny nose this morning. I think she’s coming down with a cold. I was worried she would pass it to you, and we can’t afford to take that risk. So, I didn’t let her come.
“Mr. Zahn Senior, she told me about what you said to her last night. I’m still determined to marry her, and I hope you’ll give us your blessing.”
“Kneel!” Owen ordered. His expression suddenly changed.

Joseph remained standing. Two bodyguards immediately stepped forward, twisted his arms behind his back, and forced him down by the knees until he was kneeling.
Owen warned, “Henry, I’ll give you one more chance. Answer me again. Are you still determined to marry Yara and no one else?”
Joseph replied, keeping his head up, “Mr. Zahn Senior, if Yara hadn’t given me the opportunity to rise, I never would have had a chance to come here. I’m grateful to her. Without her, I wouldn’t be where I am today.
“Besides, I truly love her. I’ve seen her at her most vulnerable, and I genuinely feel for her. I’m ugly. Having someone who likes me isn’t easy.”
