A Mix-up Made Me His Enemy's Woman novel Chapter 19

Chapter 19

After leaving the Reid residence, Bethany sent Silas a message. Did you ask your family to contact my mother about our marriage alliance?

Silas was at a club. He picked up his phone lazily, a faint smile curling at his lips. He texted back, Yeah.

Bethany deliberated before sending two words. Thank you.

He had helped her out of a tight spot. So, it was only right for her to thank him.

However, as soon as she climbed into the car and was about to head home, she received a location pin from him.

Bethany: ?

Silas: I drank a little too much. Come pick me up.

Bethany: Where’s your driver?

Silas: You just thanked me, and now you’re unwilling to pick me up?

Bethany immediately replied. I’ll be right there.

Oscar Mitchell watched as Silas barely touched his drink. Silas merely lounged on the couch, playing with his phone.

Oscar was a little annoyed. I called you out to drink, not to play on your phone, Silas.

Silas clicked his tongue. Enjoy yourselves without me. I’m not drinking tonight.

He paused before breaking into a smile. After all, my wife is coming to pick me up soon. What can I say? I’m on a tight leash.

As soon as his words fell, everyone exchanged bewildered looks.

Hold onYou’re married, Mr. Brennan?

That was news. Wasn’t Silas into men? Had he switched preferences?

Oscar narrowed his eyes, studying him. Why don’t I know about this?

Silaslips curled. I told you not to fall for me, Oscar. Nothing good will come out of it.

Silas Brennan!Oscar walked up to him, slung his arm over Silasshoulder, and raised his hand as if he wanted to strangle Silas. Silas, however, seized his wrist and restrained him.

No one batted an eye. After all, they were used to the two roughhousing.

Just then, the private room door was pushed open, and the first thing that came into Bethany’s view was Silas with his arm around another man. She studied the unfamiliar face curiously. Oscar was just as goodlooking as Silas. So, this was her husband’s boyfriend.

Bethany cleared her throat. Should I wait outside for you?

Silas let go of Oscar, stood up, and straightened his clothes. No. I’ll head back with you.

He shot Oscar a mildly disgusted look Don’t get handsy with me next time, Oscar. People might get the wrong idea.

Oscar was dumbfounded. The hell did you just—

Without sparing him another glance, Silas ushered Bethany out of the private room, leaving Oscar’s unfinished words hanging in the air.
