A Mix-up Made Me His Enemy's Woman novel Chapter 20

Chapter 20

Bethany went with Diana early in the morning to finalize the share transfer.

Holding the agreement in her hands, Bethany smiled with satisfaction. Thanks. From then on, she became the sole majority shareholder of Elysian Hotel.

Antonio had just returned from a business trip when he heard that Diana was at the hotel. He pushed the door open and walked in. Diana, you’re here. Oh, and who is this?

Diana’s expression was stoic as she introduced them. Don’t you remember, Antonio? This is my daughter, Beth.

Bethany had never been close to Diana, so she wasn’t close with the Reeveses as well. She had only met Antonio once, when

she was seven.

Antonio was taken aback. Oh. My, how you’ve grown. Long time no see, Beth. Did you miss your Uncle Antonio?

Bethany’s brows drew together almost imperceptibly. She hadn’t expected Antonio to become this sleazy after all these years. Mom just transferred the shares to my name, Uncle Antonio. I’ll be joining the company tomorrow. I hope you’ll take good care of me in the future!

His expression changed drastically. What? Why didn’t you tell me about this, Diana?

Diana shrugged. I transferred the shares to Beth, but you’re still in charge. This won’t really change anything for you, Antonio.

But this had indeed changed everything.

He held only 2% of the shares. He had always believed that, in a few years, Diana would transfer all her shares to him. Why else would he have worked so hard to run this hotel?

Both his son and daughterinlaw worked there. Bethany’s arrival would only push his family to the sidelines.

Bethany took in his reaction. Her eyes crinkled into little crescents as she said, Don’t worry, Uncle Antonio. I’m new to all this. You’ll still be in charge of the hotel.

Bethany was well aware that she had to play nice before she could make her move. After all, she was new to the company and couldn’t afford to make Antonio her enemy from the outset. Everything had to be done step by step.

Antonio’s expression relaxed a little when he heard that. Alright then. Still, you really should’ve given me a headsup, Diana, he grumbled.

Diana left after completing the paperwork.

They had already signed the share transfer agreement. As Diana’s daughter, Bethany was legally entitled to the inheritance, and there were no tax issues.

The business registration process would take another 15 working days. The hotel’s legal representative would also be officially changed to Bethany.

Antonio brought Bethany to an office. What do you think of this place, Beth?He deliberately led her to the HR department because he planned to give her a cushy title as HR Director.

I think it’s fine,Bethany responded, smiling.

The mentor Silas had introduced her to explained that HR was a core department. Holding a position there would give her full authority over personnel appointments.

The previous HR Director had just resigned, and the deputy director, William Grant, had thought that his promotion was all but guaranteed. He never expected a young woman to parachute in and become the department’s head. His expression hardened on the spot.

Antonio patted him on the shoulder and lowered his voice. That’s my sister’s daughter. There’s nothing I can do about it. She’s just here to gain some experience. Bear with her.
