Chapter 30
Jeremy instantly agreed to give Silas and Bethany five houses, leaving Bethany completely shocked by his generosity.
She cautiously said, “I… don’t need that many houses.”
Hearing Bethany say that, Diana felt an urge to cover her mouth. If five houses were too many for Bethany, she would gladly accept them!
Reading Gary’s and Diana’s expressions, Jeremy smiled warmly. “Beth, I’m happy to give these to you. No need to call me ‘ Mr. Jeremy‘—just Jeremy will do.”
Beth’s cheeks flushed red. “Jeremy.”
Hearing that, Jeremy chuckled happily. “Ah, you’re so much easier to please than my own son.”
Diana gave an awkward smile. “Don’t say that, Mr. Brennan Senior. How can Beth compare to Mr. Silas? He’s an exceptional young man. Beth is lucky to marry him.”
“Really?” Silas snorted icily and smirked. “To my dad, she’s 100 times better than me, right?”
Jeremy cleared his throat. “That’s enough!”
Some things were only meant to be said in the privacy of their own home.
What could he answer? He couldn’t well say, “Sorry, Beth. My son is gay, so you’ll have to put up with him,” could he?
Silas would be the death of him!
Surprised that Silas would side with her, Bethany smiled at him gratefully.
Silas caught her signal and calmly pulled out his phone, typing a message with one hand. Soon, Bethany felt her phone vibrating in her pocket.
Silas had texted, “Stop smiling at me like that, or I might start thinking that you’ve fallen in love with me.”
Bethany was rendered speechless by his narcissism.
Even though she was known for being good–natured, she couldn’t help but text back, “Don’t worry, Mr. Brennan. I’m not interested in gay men.”
He looked up and replied, “Who are you calling gay?”
“Beth, stop staring at your phone!” Diana leaned closer and reminded her. “Don’t you know where we are? Where are your manners?”
Bethany put her phone away and cast a cool glance at Silas. He gave her a knowing smile, and she looked away.
Later, Jeremy couldn’t stop talking, urging that the wedding be scheduled as soon as possible. He wanted it to be a grand affair and promised to oversee every detail himself.
Hearing that, Gary and Diana were absolutely delighted.
“I suggest we have a grand wedding, but until then, our families should stay quiet about it. What do you think, Diana?” Silas asked abruptly.
Naturally, Diana had no objection. “Sure, no problem!”
She could afford to wait and keep their marriage a secret for a few months.
Once everyone knew that they were forming a marriage alliance with the Brennan family, the Reid family’s prospects would only grow even stronger.

Meanwhile, Noah was frowning as he glanced at the file in his hands. “Does Beth work at Elysian Hotel now?”
Arthur replied, “Yes! We found out that Ms. Porter is the HR director, a high–ranking position.”
Noah scoffed lightly. He had no idea that she would do this well after leaving him. He asked, “How did she get hired?”
Without the relevant experience, no matter how capable she was, moving from secretary to HR director would be extremely
difficult.
Noah recalled the man’s voice he heard when he called Bethany previously and wondered if Bethany had sold herself just to rise through the ranks.
If she had, then he had completely misjudged her!
Arthur explained, “Mr. Vazquez, I’m not aware of the details, but she hadn’t applied for the position, nor had any headhunter sought her out. Perhaps she has a connection within the hotel.”
