Chapter 29
Silas‘ lips pulled into a smile. He said, “Don’t worry, Sarah. I love Beth. I promise I’ll take good care of her.”
Bethany froze at the mention of love. She hadn’t expected Silas to be so cooperative, and gratitude welled up within her. It was rare for Sarah to have visitors. Since Silas was her grandson–in–law, she eagerly chatted with him for a long time. What put her at case was that he showed no hint of impatience.
It seemed that Bethany had found someone who genuinely cherished her.
Silas and Bethany spent two hours at the nursing home before leaving. Bethany said solemnly, “Thank you, Silas.” Silas gave an easy smile. “No need to thank me. I’m only doing what I should. Our parents will be meeting tomorrow.” He winked at her. “I hope you’ll do the same for me tomorrow, Mrs. Brennan.”
Diana and Gary arrived at the meeting spot early, both feeling a little nervous.
“Show some affection for Beth later,” Gary reminded.
Diana pursed her lips. “I know what to do.”
Silas arrived with Bethany almost simultaneously with Jeremy.
Jeremy radiated authority effortlessly. At 60, his eyes still gleamed with sharp intelligence, and he carried an unmistakable vitality.
After studying Bethany, he gave an approving nod. She met his expectations for a future daughter–in–law. He said, “You must be Beth.”
Bethany nodded politely. “Hello, Mr. Jeremy.”
Diana chided, “Why are you still calling him Mr. Jeremy? Beth, you’re already married to Silas. He’s your father–in–law.” Jeremy raised a hand. “Oh, don’t blame her. Beth, I haven’t even given you a wedding gift yet, right?”
Diana flashed an awkward smile and gestured for him to take a seat at the head of the table. Bethany sat next to Silas. Jeremy continued, “Beth, I don’t have much prepared for you–just some money. I’ve arranged a house for you and Silas, and it’ll be in your name. My late wife left this bank card for her future daughter–in–law. Also, here’s a share transfer agreement. It’s only 5% of the group, but starting tomorrow, it can be officially transferred to you.”
He then glanced at Gary and Diana. “Is that fine?”
Gary felt a surge of excitement. That was more than fine!
Never mind the first two gifts; that 5% share in Brennan Group was a fortune in itself!
“Of course that’s fine, Mr. Jeremy,” Gary said.
Bethany cast a worried glance at Silas, seemingly asking if the gifts were too much. Silas gave her a comforting look before turning to Jeremy. “Dad, isn’t that too stingy of you?”
Jeremy glared at him. “I’m stingy?”
The gifts were nearly twice what he had given his eldest daughter–in–law. He wanted to make it up to Bethany, knowing that Silas was gay.
“That’s right. One house isn’t enough. We’ll need at least five villas once we have kids.”
