A Mix-up Made Me His Enemy's Woman novel Chapter 51

Chapter 51

With a smirk, Silas raised an eyebrow. When you were saying Noah is old, has poor stamina, and doesn’t dote on you. I didn’t know you liked younger men, Mrs. Brennan.

He suddenly smiled. What a coincidence. I’m three months younger than Noah, and I work out regularly. My tennis skills barely qualify me for the amateur top tier. Oh, and I really dote on my other half.

Bethany was rendered speechless.

So, Mrs. Brennan, you can rest assured that marrying me was absolutely the right choice.

Bethany forced a wry smile.

But Silas liked men. No matter how perfect he was, Bethany wouldn’t stand a chance as long as he swung the other way.

Silas saw her with her head down, seemingly unwilling to respond, and didn’t press her. Some things simply had to be taken slowly.

Bethany breathed a small sigh of relief when he didn’t press further.

When the car drove into the Brennan residence, Bethany realized that her relieved breath seemed to have been released too

soon.

Silas seemed to notice her nervousness and smiled reassuringly. Don’t be so tense. My family is easy to get along with. They’ll like you.

Bethany thought of the kindlooking Jeremy and realized that Silas was probably right.

Her own family members were likely the only people who were difficult to handle.

She didn’t dwell on it for much longer and followed Silas, winding through the halls to the main building. The Brennan residence was much larger than she’d imagined.

Soon, a little kid opened the door for them.

Sixyearold Evan Brennan scratched his chubby cheek and asked curiously, Uncle Silas, who’s this pretty lady?

The corner of Silasmouth twitched, and he shot a biting remark, Evan, can you not touch me with those greasy hands of yours? Stay away. You’re so dirty.

Turning to Bethany, he explained, This is my brother’s son. He’s a little dirty, so don’t mind him.

Evan pouted, and his cheeks wobbled. Uncle Silas, you’re so mean! I’m not dirty! Don’t say that!

Silas pulled a tissue from the box on the console table and wiped his hands. Evan, look in the mirror, then tell me you’re not dirty.

Evan snorted and turned to run.

Bethany laughed helplessly at the uncle and nephew duo, then walked over to Jeremy.

Jeremy, we’re back.

Jeremy smiled cheerfully. It’s so good to see you! Beth, I specifically told Silas to bring you home for dinner today. I heard you fainted last time. You have no idea how worried I was! Are you feeling any better?

Bethany didn’t expect Silas to have told Jeremy about it. She nodded. I’m fine now. Everything’s back on track.

Jeremy finally relaxed. Don’t worry. If Silas ever bullies you, just tell me. I’ll have your back for sure!

A warm feeling rose in Bethany’s chest. She sincerely said, Thank you, Jeremy.
