A Mix-up Made Me His Enemy's Woman novel Chapter 52

Chapter 52

Evan grimaced and squirmed. Uncle Silas, put me down! Ouch, ouch, ouch!

Bethany watched Silas carry Evan away with a mix of amusement and sympathy. Silas, be gentle. He’s so little.

Silas sneered quietly in his mind. Was she already defending Evan? They had just met.

Little? He’s so chubby. He’s most definitely not little at all.

When Evan caught Silascold gaze, he flashed a cute smile. Uncle Silas, you’re the best uncle ever. I’ve lost weight recently, so don’t spank me, okay?

Bethany watched the tall and short figures mess around, then quietly returned to sit beside Jeremy.

Jeremy chuckled. Silas is scaring Evan again. Don’t take it the wrong way. Silasbrother is raising Evan alone, you see. Since he’s busy with work, I take care of Evan most of the time. He likes to cling to Silas. They’re always fooling around.

Bethany was curious but didn’t ask more.

It was no wonder that Evan wanted a mother for himself. He was starved for motherly love.

After Silas finished disciplining Evan, the boy pouted but still chose to sit beside Bethany.

He had already accepted that the mother he’d picked just now was his aunt. Aunt Betty, can I sit with you?

Though chubby, Evan was absolutely adorable. His features clearly showed that he’d inherited the best genes from both his parents.

Bethany pulled out a chair for him. Of course.

Evan climbed up nimbly despite his size and pouted at Silas.

When Silas saw Evan’s cheeky expression, his hands itched again.

After dinner, Bethany and Evan exchanged phone numbers, and Evan proudly told her that he had a smartwatch to video call her every day with.

Bethany couldn’t refuse such an adorable kid and agreed to everything he requested.

Once Silas was done eating, he hurriedly left with Bethany, fearing Evan might pull some kind of mischief.

In the car, Bethany chuckled. Evan is so cute.

Silas scoffed. Cute? He’s just chubby. He needs to lose weight.

Don’t say that. He might take it seriously. What if he gets selfconscious at school?Bethany was actually worried for the young boy.

Silas thought about it for a moment. He won’t. He’s only six.

He then laughed in exasperation. Since you like kids so much, should we have one of our own someday?

The space instantly fell silent.

Bethany didn’t quite know how to respond.

Of course, Silas had spoken without thinking. He hadn’t figured out how to steer the conversation forward just yet.

They stayed silent for a while until Silas relented first. Don’t feel pressured to have kids. I was just joking.

Bethany replied, I know.

Back home, they went to their own rooms.
