A Mix-up Made Me His Enemy's Woman novel Chapter 79

Chapter 79

Or do you not have anyone to phone?

Noah’s lips twitched almost imperceptibly. There’s no need to concern yourself with my affairs, Mr. Brennan.

Within ten minutes, the private room was filled with beautiful women. Some looked fresh and innocent, others elegant and refined, and still others sultry and glamorous.

Silas casually pulled out his phone, pretending to scroll while secretly recording the entire scene. The camera finally settled on Noah, where a freshfaced college student had positioned herself close to him, all soft smiles and shy glances.

Silas saved the video with satisfaction, a smile curling at his lips.

Noah frowned at the woman who had suddenly appeared at his side. You don’t need to keep me company.

He then glanced coldly at the man sitting alone across from them. Sit with Mr. Brennan instead. He’s the one facing you.Silas overheard his words and clicked his tongue lightly. There’s no need to send anyone my way. I prefer men, after all.Seeing the young woman beside him on the verge of tears, Noah relented and let her stay. Don’t worry about me. Just eat.The rest of the dinner proceeded smoothly enough without any major incidents. Still, everyone could tell Silas wasn’t particularly interested.

He toyed with a lighter in his hand, and when someone moved to light a cigarette for him, he waved them off with a smile.

I’ve quit smoking. I only carry the lighter out of habit.

Everyone laughed at that. It was the first time they’d heard of someone playing with a lighter to satisfy a craving.

Hearing him mention quitting smoking, Noah raised an eyebrow, his gaze scrutinizing. Something felt different about Silas today.

People in their circle didn’t suddenly quit vices unless there were health reasons. Unless, of course, he’d quit smoking for someone?

Thinking of Silaspreferences, Noah smiled faintly and shifted his attention elsewhere.

Meanwhile, Silas tapped away at his phone. About six miles away, a woman jolted awake at the buzzing vibration.

Bethany groggily rubbed her eyes and reached for her phone. When she unlocked the screen, she found a video from Silas.

The first time she played it, she didn’t quite catch everything. Then, his message appeared.

Mrs. Brennan, aren’t I being good? Everyone brought a female companion, but I’m the only one staying pure and virtuous.

Bethany replayed the video and finally spotted a familiar figure in the crowd.

Sure enough, sitting beside Noah was a pretty, innocentlooking young woman.

Bethany laughed softly. She couldn’t shake the feeling that Silas had sent this to her on purpose.

The man’s childish behavior lifted her previously sour mood. She typed out her reply carefully.

Very good, indeed. Though if you were to bring anyone, shouldn’t it be a male companion, Mr. Brennan?

After sending that response, Bethany rolled over and went back to sleep.

Silas read her response, pressed his tongue against his back teeth, and smiled faintly. He stood and left the table, heading straight for the parking garage.

The dinner was too dull. Nothing compared to having his wife around.
