Chapter 78
Diana glared furiously at the retreating figure. “Antonio, did you hear what she just said?”
What did Bethany mean by not considering her family anymore? Bethany had no other relatives. Would she really cut Diana off completely?
Antonio could tell that his niece hadn’t been faking it earlier. She’d actually blocked her own mother.
Antonio’s eyes flickered. His opinion of Bethany shifted slightly.
“Diana, calm down. Kids say things when they’re angry. You just slapped her, so maybe she felt humiliated.”
Antonio naturally wouldn’t spell everything out for Diana. It was better to smooth things over for now.
Diana was clearly furious. And when security arrived, her rage shot through the roof. “What? Are you actually going to throw me out?”
Antonio smiled placatingly. “Diana, calm down. Of course not.”
He glared at the two security guards. “There’s nothing here. You can go.”
The two guards exchanged glances. “But Ms. Porter just said-”
“Who’s higher up the ladder, her or me?” Antonio’s eyes narrowed. “Are you telling me you only listen to the director and treat the CEO’s words like garbage?”
“We wouldn’t dare!” Both guards immediately lowered their heads, but showed no sign of leaving.
Diana had had enough. There was no point in staying any longer.
“I’m leaving. You don’t need to throw me out!” Just like that, she stalked out in her two–inch heels.
Antonio looked thoughtful. When had Bethany gained more authority than him?
After leaving Antonio’s office, Bethany went straight to the restroom. Looking at her swollen, red cheek, she knew she couldn’t stay at work today.
Fortunately, she had a mask with her. She grabbed her bag and left in a hurry.
When she got home, Bethany went straight to her room, completely ignoring whatever Jane was saying behind her.
After washing up, her cheek still burned painfully. Diana had really gone all out in that one swing.
Bethany let out a hollow laugh. She’d slapped those two cheaters. Was this payback for what she’d done?
Bethany couldn’t do her skincare routine like she usually did. She drew the curtains close and collapsed onto the bed.
Before she went to sleep, she texted Jane not to wake her for dinner.
Silas had a business dinner tonight and had texted Bethany earlier to say he wouldn’t be home for dinner. But the message he’d sent at 5:00 pm still hadn’t received a response by 6:30 pm.
He lazily entered the private room and froze. He hadn’t expected Noah to be at tonight’s gathering as well.
Several people gasped. Everyone silently cursed whoever had been stupid enough to invite both Silas and Noah to the same dinner.
Someone said with a nervous laugh, “Mr. Brennan, we have another gathering next door. Should I take you over there?”
The guy was trying to forcibly separate the two.

But Silas wasn’t having it. Why should he be the one to leave?
