Chapter 86
Noah hummed in acknowledgment. “Mr. Reid really wanted that land in the East District, but Silas snatched it from him.”
Ella looked thoughtful. Was it that parcel of land again?
She knew all too well the history behind that land. Back then, her father had tried to match Bethany with Cyrus just to get that land from the Brannon family.
But how did that land end up with Silas?
Ella had a bold suspicion.
Her father had been so eager to arrange Bethany’s marriage. Could Bethany’s secret marriage partner actually be Silas?
Ella’s face turned as pale as a sheet at the mere thought.
Noah looked at her with concern. “Ella, what’s wrong?”
Ella snapped back to attention and smiled faintly. “Nothing, Noah. I’m just thinking about how many wedding dresses I want to wear tomorrow.”
Noah chuckled and ruffled her hair affectionately. “Wear as many as you want. If we can’t finish in one day, we’ll take a whole week, okay?”
Ella smiled gently. Noah’s blatant favoritism gave her some confidence.
Right. There was no way Bethany could have married Silas.
Even if Silas were gay, he would never marry someone like Bethany, who had nothing to her name.
Ella had just panicked for a moment and jumped to ridiculous conclusions.
Tomorrow, after she finished taking her wedding photos, she would make sure Bethany knew just how happy she was!
The cruise ship was so massive that Bethany explored every corner like an excited tourist. Silas patiently introduced everything to her, playing the dutiful gentleman.
Suddenly, Silas stumbled.
Bethany frowned and looked at him curiously. “What’s wrong?”
Silas braced himself against the wall, his lips turning slightly pale. “Maybe it’s from walking around so much, but I’m feeling a little dizzy.”
“Seasick?”
Bethany had never imagined Silas getting seasick.
Silas‘ breathing grew rapid, as if he couldn’t quite catch his breath.
Panic shot through her. “Silas, are you still with me?”
Silas leaned against the wall with his eyes closed. “Could you help me back to my room? Thanks.”
Bethany’s room was on the sixth floor, while Silas‘ was on the seventh. They were currently on the sixth floor, only about 60 feet from her room.
She hesitated for a few seconds before saying, “Let’s go to my room first. I haven’t used it anyway. I’ll help you!”
Silas pressed his lips together lightly. “Thanks.”
“Alright, don’t talk now. Save your strength.” Bethany draped his arm over her shoulder. And without thinking much, she placed her other hand on his waist.

“Alright, don’t talk now. Save your strength.” Bethany draped his arm over her shoulder. And without thinking much, the placed her other hand on his waist.
“Come on. We’ll take it slow.”
Silas was considerably taller than Bethany. He let half his body weight rest on her, his lips curling almost imperceptibly,
“Thank you.”
He could feel her warm, soft palm through the thin fabric of his shirt against his back, making the curve of his lips deepen
Bethany felt uncomfortable. His warm breath tickled her ear.
And Silas wasn’t light, so supporting him as they walked took great effort. Bethany had to hold his waist even tighter to get a proper hold on him.
Finally, the two of them made it to her room, and Bethany helped him lie down on her bed,
Fine beads of sweat appeared on her pale forehead. She was exhausted now.
Meanwhile, Silas lay contentedly on the bed with his eyes closed, looking quite unwell.
“There should be a doctor on the ship, right? I’ll get someone to check on you!”
The moment she spoke, his warm hands grabbed Bethany’s slender wrist. “Don’t go. I feel better when you’re here. If you leave, I’ll only get dizzier.
“Just call them and have them bring some seasickness medication.”
Bethany did as he asked, surprised that Silas could have such a vulnerable side to him.
In her mind, he always wore that playful smile on his lips, making it impossible to guess what he was thinking
But now he seemed vulnerable, almost needy.
He really was a charmer.
Bethany’s heart skipped, and her face flushed. Why on earth did she think of that description?
