The King Of Warriors novel (Jared Chance) novel Chapter 6544

"Chairman, Vice Chairman Sutton has already departed."

His trusted attendant stood three steps behind him and reported respectfully, "She took the Exchange's finest disguise relic, Thousand Faces. It can alter appearance, aura, even fluctuations in cultivation at will. If she wants, not even a Golden Immortal Realm Level Five expert will be able to see through her disguise."

Cedric nodded and took a sip of his tea.

"Any movement from the Ember God Palace?"

"Aurelius sent out three elders—Garrick, Vaughn, and Silas—leading the third squad of the Ember Drake Guard to the Godfall Wastes. They're all at the peak of Golden Immortal Level Three. It's a strong force."

"A strong force?"

Cedric smiled, all polished calculation in the way only a merchant could manage. "Strong, yes. But no matter how strong they are, in front of chaotic force, they’re still just three slightly sturdier ants.

That kid Jared killed someone at the peak of Golden Immortal Realm Level Three with a single sword strike while he was only at True Immortal Realm Level Eight. Once he steps into the Golden Immortal Realm, won’t he be able to challenge opponents from even higher realms?"

His fingers tapped lightly against the teacup, each touch ringing out with a crisp, delicate chime.

"Send word to Claire not to rush.

Let the people from the Ember God Palace clash with Jared first. She stays hidden and watches.

When both sides have nearly worn each other down, then she makes her move—not as someone from the Abyssal Exchange, but as a... wandering cultivator who got lost in the Godfall Wastes."

He paused.

"And tell her to take that thing with her."

His trusted attendant froze for a beat. "Chairman means... the ancient transit talisman?"

"A place like the Godfall Wastes is riddled with spatial fissures. Even someone at Golden Immortal Realm Level Five wouldn’t dare tear through space there lightly.

If danger finds her and she doesn’t have that thing, she may not even be able to escape."

Cedric turned from the window, his red-gold eyes flashing in the dim tower. "I have no intention of letting Vice-Master Claire die in a place like that.

She’s my most useful piece on the board—worth more than ten Golden Immortal Realm Level Three cultivators put together."

The attendant accepted the order and withdrew.

Cedric turned back to the tall window and looked out over the vast cloud-sea, and beyond it, the sprawling land below the Eighteenth Firmament.

His gaze passed over the direction of the Ember God Palace, then farther still, to the Hall of Radiance’s floating sacred dais, then farther again, to the faint palace complex hidden deep in the Ashford Range.

At last, his eyes returned to that dark red land of death—the Godfall Wastes.

"The Aureate Codex."

He spoke the four words softly, with a greed so deep it was almost reverent. "The highest inheritance the Aureate Way lost hundreds of thousands of years ago. The thing the heavens and the myriad worlds have all been searching for.

And it ended up in the hands of a boy in the True Immortal Realm. What kind of luck is that?

Or... was this arranged on purpose by those old men from the Aureate Way?"

He shook his head and cast the thought aside.

Whether the Aureate Way had arranged it or not, the Aureate Codex had appeared on his turf.

There was no world in which he would let that go.

As for Jared?

A youth in the True Immortal Realm, carrying a priceless treasure, had come alone into the Eighteenth Firmament.

In Cedric’s eyes, Jared wasn’t a person at all.

He was a slab of rich meat, glazed in honey, and all Cedric had to do was wait for that sweetness to melt before swallowing him whole.
