The King Of Warriors novel (Jared Chance) novel Chapter 6646

"Mr. Chance, the total price is one hundred fifty-six thousand high-grade crystals."

Morgan smiled so hard his face almost cramped. "You are an honored guest of Grand Trove Pavilion, so I will remove the remainder. One hundred fifty thousand will be enough."

Jared took out fifteen supreme-grade crystals and placed them on the counter.

"One hundred fifty thousand. Count it."

"No need! No need at all!"

Morgan waved his hands quickly. "If it comes from you, Mr. Chance, it must be correct."

Jared nodded and turned to leave.

Before he could step away, a middle-aged man in black entered from outside.

His pace was steady. His aura was restrained. He was Golden Immortal Level Six.

"May I ask which one of you is Mr. Jared Chance?"

Rowan's face changed.

He moved in front of Jared almost by instinct.

"Who are you?"

The man cupped his hands with clear respect. "Warren Frost, captain of the City Lord's personal guard. I come by the City Lord's order to invite Mr. Chance to the estate for a conversation."

Rowan's expression grew tense.

The City Lord's estate?

Were they here for revenge?

Those forces had spent centuries building roots in Bermu City. It was impossible they had no ties to the estate.

Jared had destroyed them all. The City Lord could not possibly pretend nothing had happened.

Jared placed a hand on Rowan's shoulder, telling him to move aside.

"I am Jared," he said calmly. "Why does the City Lord want me?"

Warren stayed polite. "The City Lord admires your strength and wishes to make a friend. Please rest assured, Mr. Chance. He has no hostile intention."

Jared was silent.

He did not believe that kind of claim easily.

But this was Bermu City, and Bermu City belonged to Bennett Whitmoor.

If Bennett truly wanted to act against him, hiding would not help.

Besides, Jared also wanted to know what the City Lord was planning.

"Fine. I will go."

Warren smiled slightly.

"This way, Mr. Chance."

Rowan grew anxious. "Mr. Chance, you cannot. What if it is a trap?"

Jared shook his head.

"It is fine. Wait here. I will return soon."

He left Grand Trove Pavilion with Warren.

Gwendolyn followed without a word.

Jared did not object.

"You may as well come."

Warren led them through several streets to the City Lord's estate in the center of Bermu City.

The estate was enormous. Halls and pavilions stretched layer after layer, dignified and imposing.

Two rows of black-armored guards stood at the gate. Every guard was at least Golden Immortal Level Five. Their eyes were bright and sharp, their presence heavy.

Warren guided Jared and Gwendolyn through several courtyards before stopping at a refined tea room.

The room was small, but arranged with careful elegance.

Several landscape paintings hung on the walls, delicate and quiet in mood. By the window, an orchid in a porcelain pot released a faint, clean fragrance.

Bennett Whitmoor was already waiting inside.

He sat in the host's seat with a cup of tea in his hand and a gentle smile on his face.

His presence was mild and scholarly, nothing like a city lord used to holding life and death in his hands.

"Please sit, Mr. Chance."

His voice was warm, easy to listen to.

Jared sat across from him.

Gwendolyn stood behind Jared.

"What did you ask me here for?" Jared asked. His tone was calm, but a trace of caution sat beneath it.

Jared carefully reviewed everything that had happened after he entered the Nineteenth Firmament.

He had only mentioned Josephine at Clearwind Village, after he and Rowan's group had become familiar enough that he had not bothered hiding it.

Yet Bennett knew.

Had one of Rowan's people told the City Lord?

A cold feeling brushed Jared's back.

If Bennett had learned even this, then the City Lord must have hidden channels all over the area.

Bennett noticed the shift in Jared's expression and only smiled.

He did not explain.

Some words were better left unsaid.

Letting Jared imagine the rest was more useful.

"You can find her?" Jared asked.

"I cannot promise success."

Bennett shook his head. "But I have managed Bermu City for thousands of years. My contacts and informants reach throughout the Nineteenth Firmament. If there is a trace, I can help you follow it."

Jared went quiet again.

The offer was hard to ignore.

He had come to the Nineteenth Firmament for Josephine.

If Bennett could truly help, that would save him a great deal of time.

"What do you want from me?"

Bennett smiled.

"As I said, friendship. If you insist on a reason, then I will be honest. I believe your future is limitless, Mr. Chance. A favor given now may one day become useful."

Jared's black eyes remained still.

He did not fully trust those words.

A city lord who had held Bermu City for thousands of years would not be generous for nothing.

Still, the proposal benefited him.

And Jared could sense that Bennett was not acting with malice.
