The King Of Warriors novel (Jared Chance) novel Chapter 6727

Sword light surged again.

The Dragonslayer Sword collided once more with the Celestial Emperor's Sovereign Blade.

This time, the gray flame did not creep slowly over the surface.

It lunged.

Like a starving ancient beast, it wrapped itself around the golden sword almost at once.

A continuous sizzling shriek filled the air.

Divine sigils that had survived tens of thousands of years blackened, warped, and broke apart under the flame. The divine foundation inside the artifact seemed to howl with them.

Layer after layer of blessing accumulated from the Divine Realm was stripped out of the weapon and burned away.

For the first time, Aureon's composure shattered completely.

Fear entered his eyes.

He could feel it clearly.

As the sigils failed, the connection linking him to the Divine Realm was being melted apart.

The damage was not limited to the sword's surface. The artifact itself had been tied to Aureon for ages. As its foundation cracked, the cultivation foundation connected to it shook in response, producing a fear he had never felt while holding the weapon.

"Stop! Get away from me!"

Aureon roared and drove divine power through the Sovereign Blade, trying to blast Jared away and break contact with the chaotic flame.

The instant that power shifted outward, Violet struck.

The Violet Abyss Immortal Sword slipped through the weakened defenses from behind.

It entered Aureon's back and burst from his chest.

This strike carried nearly everything Violet still possessed. It tore through the divine light protecting a Grand Zenith Immortal, damaged the foundation of his physical body, and ripped open the meridians carrying his divine power.

Gwendolyn attacked simultaneously.

Extreme cold locked around Aureon's knees.

Ice climbed his shins, froze the blood in his lower body, sealed the nearby space, and took away the last easy path of escape.

Three directions.

One killing trap.

Jared ignored the feeling of his meridians tearing apart and forced out every remaining drop of chaotic essence.

The gray-violet fire poured from his sword into Aureon's right arm.

There was no explosion.

No roaring heat.

The arm simply began to disappear.

Muscle, tendon, bloodline, bone, and divine essence all dissolved beneath the chaotic flame. The divine sigils attached to them turned to ash with everything else.

The hand holding the Sovereign Blade vanished completely.

Without its master's power, the already-damaged artifact lost its light.

It fell.

The instant it struck the ground, the blade split down the middle and broke into two pieces.

Agony tore through Aureon's soul.

His body convulsed as divine power reversed through him.

Then the chaotic fire closed over the rest of his body.

Flesh dissolved.

Meridians vanished.

Bone became ash.

The final traces of life, divinity, and law resonance were burned out completely. Nothing remained inside the fire that could still be called flesh, meridian, bone, or divine pattern.

A short while later, only fine black ash remained.

A breeze scattered even that across the charred earth.

Nothing recognizable was left.

The moment the killing technique ended, the strength holding all three of them upright disappeared with it.

Jared dropped to one knee.

He planted the Dragonslayer Sword in the ground to keep himself from falling and dragged air into his lungs. His throat felt as dry and raw as if it had been packed with coarse sand.

His face had gone white.

His lips had lost all color.

The core inside him felt empty and numb. More than half his chaotic origin had been overdrawn, and tiny fractures had spread through his meridians. Some of those injuries would not disappear simply by resting for a night. Even a slight movement sent violent pain through him.

Gwendolyn slid down the stone pillar behind her until she was sitting on the cold ground.

Her fingers shook uncontrollably.

Both arms were numb with exhaustion. The Ice Goddess essence inside her had been completely drained, and the cold around her was now so faint that she could not maintain even a thin layer of frost on the stone.

Her lips were pale, and her breathing had become so weak that each inhale looked like an effort.

Each breath formed tiny crystals around her nose.

The backlash from the extreme cold gnawed through her meridians and filled her body with deep, aching pain.

Violet fell to both knees.

Her immortal sword remained planted beside her, the only thing helping keep her upright.

Sweat had soaked her hair and plastered strands across her colorless face.

Her breathing was rough.

Nineteen kills had cost her dearly. Roughly seventy percent of her immortal foundation had been damaged or consumed, and her cultivation base had begun to destabilize. The purple radiance around her flickered like a candle about to go out.

Silence returned to the valley.

Only their exhausted breathing remained.
