Chapter 502
THIRD POV
The office door opened without warning.
Sage stepped inside, immediately slowing when she took one look at Jason.
The atmosphere in the room was terrible.
And considering she had nearly collided with Caleb storming out of the office moments ago, she already knew something had happened.
Caleb had looked too serious.
The kind of seriousness that usually came after one of his intense meetings with Jason.
Sage closed the door behind her and frowned.
“What happened here?”
Jason didn’t answer.
He remained behind his desk, staring at the reports scattered across it.
Sage blinked.
Then looked around the office.
Then back at him.
“What happened, Jason?” she repeated.
Nothing.
Not even a glance.
Her frown deepened.
“Jason.”
Still nothing.
Now she was annoyed.
She crossed her arms and walked further into the room.
“The way Caleb nearly knocked me over on his way out and the look on your face say something happened.”
Jason grabbed another report from the desk.
Ignored her

Sage stared at him in disbelief.
“Are you serious right now?”
Still nothing.
That only made her more determined.
She moved closer.
“What is going on? I’m asking a question.”
Jason pinched the bridge of his nose.
Sage waited.
Then waited some more.
Then opened her mouth again.
“Jason…”
“What is your problem? Can’t you see I’m busy?” he snapped suddenly.
“Too busy to tell me what’s going on?” Sage asked.
Jason sat up.
“What’s the use of telling you anything when you have nothing to contribute?”
The words came out sharper than either of them expected.
Sage froze.
Jason immediately regretted saying it like that.
Not because he felt guilty.
Because he knew exactly what was coming next.
And right on cue-
“What is that supposed to mean?” Sage began.
Jason groaned internally.
Sage’s eyes widened.
“What do you mean, what is the use of telling me?”
Jason looked away.
Wrong answer.
Very wrong answer.

Ham talking to you!” Sage said.
“Sage=”
“No!”
She pointed dramatically at herself.
“I am your Luna!”
Jason shut his eyes briefly.

“I deserve to know what is happening in this pack!” she added.
Jason said nothing.
Another mistake.
Sage threw her hands into the air.
“Oh, unbelievable!”

She began pacing.
“Everyone knows something except me!”
“Sage-”

“First Caleb storms out looking like he’s ready to kill someone, then I walk in here and find you looking like your world is ending, and somehow I’m the last person allowed to know anything?”
Jason let out a slow breath.
His headache was getting worse.
“This is exactly why I didn’t want to explain it.”
Sage gasped dramatically.
“Excuse me?”
Jason immediately regretted speaking again.
“You know what?” Sage continued. “Forget it. Clearly I’m just decoration around here.”
Jason finally looked up.
She was glaring at him now.
Arms folded.
Waiting.
Very obviously waiting.
The silence stretched.

Then Jason sighed heavily.
Exhausted.
Defeated.
“Fine.”
Sage immediately straightened.
The victory was so obvious on her face that Jason almost changed his mind out of spite.
Almost.
He rubbed a hand over his face.
“Another cargo shipment has been hijacked.”
Sage blinked.
“What shipment?”
Jason looked at her.
“The goods that were sent out for delivery… They were diverted. Stolen. This is the third in a week.”
Her eyes widened.
“In one week?”
“Yes.”
Now she looked genuinely surprised.
The tantrum vanished immediately.
“Wait.”
She stared at him.
“Three?”
Jason nodded.

Sage frowned.
“Why am I only hearing about this now?”
Jason chose not to answer that.
Mostly because he didn’t have a good answer.
And partly because he knew exactly where that conversation would go.
Sage stared at him another moment before asking,

“Who did it?”
Jason’s expression immediately darkened again.
