Chapter 526-1
FAYE
As I got to the bedroom, I stood in front of the full-length mirror for a moment.
I smiled to myself.
That certainly wouldn’t do.
Instead of simply changing, I decided to take a quick shower first.
A few minutes later, I stepped out feeling refreshed. I dried my hair just enough for it to fall in soft wi over my shoulders.
Then I walked into the dressing room.
I paused in front of my wardrobe, my eyes moving across the rows of dresses.
Tonight wasn’t a formal occasion.
It also wasn’t just another ordinary evening.
I wanted something comfortable.
Something feminine.
My gaze settled on a soft cream-colored dress.
It was simple, ending just above my knees, with long/fitted sleeves and an off-the-shoulder neckline tha exposed one shoulder while resting delicately across the other. The fabric hugged my figure gently with being overly revealing, and the color made my skin appear warmer beneath the bedroom lights.
I slipped it on before pairing it with a pair of nude house slippers.
I looked at myself once more.
Satisfied, I smiled and left the room.
When I returned downstairs, Martha was exactly where I had left her.
She looked up the moment she saw me.
Her eyes traveled over me for a brief second before an unmistakably pleased smile spread across her
face.
“You’re just in time, Luna,” Martha said. “Everything is still warm.”
“Thank you, Martha,” I replied with a smile.
I walked over to the counter where the meal waited.
The aroma still filled the kitchen, making me quietly hopeful that it tasted every bit as good as it smelled.
Chapter 526
Martha removed the covers from the serving dishes, and together we gave everything one final look.
~The presentation was beautiful.
The vegetables had been arranged neatly-along one side of the plate, the main dish rested perfectly ir center, and the sauce had been added carefully without overwhelming everything else.
Even I had to admit…
It looked rather impressive.
Martha adjusted one of the garnishes before stepping back.
“There,” she said with satisfaction. “Now it looks worthy of the Alpha.”
I laughed softly.
“I hope he agrees.”
“I’m certain he will.”
I reached for the serving tray and carefully lifted it.
It was a little heavier than I had expected, but still manageable.
Martha instinctively stepped forward.
“I can carry it for you, Luna.”
I shook my head.
“Don’t worry.”
Understanding immediately crossed her face. A knowing smile slowly appeared on her lips.
“Very well.”
I balanced the tray carefully against one arm before taking a slow breath.
Originally…
The plan had simply been to call Alexander down to the dining room.
That was the sensible thing to do.
But now that I stood here holding the tray.
Another idea came to me.
A much better one.
Why cail him downstairs…
…when I could bring dinner to him instead?
The thought amused me immediately.
Chapter 526
Alexander had been buried in work.
Claim
-If I invited him to dinner, there was every possibility he would insist on finishing “one last document’ first.
Knowing him…
One last document could easily become another hour.
Or two.
Not tonight.
Tonight, I wasn’t giving him an excuse.
If dinner arrived in his office, there would be nothing left for him to postpone.
Besides…
