She needed a moment to absorb everything I had just told her.
“She looked frightened.
Confused.
Almost as though she was questioning everything she thought she knew.
When she finally looked back at me, her expression had softened considerably.
“I… I didn’t know,” Andrea said quietly. “I didn’t know any of that.”
“I know,” I replied. “That’s why I wanted you to hear it before you asked me to believe your father was
innocent.”
She swallowed hard.
“I still don’t believe he would do something like that,” Andrea said softly.
“I understand,” I replied.
I really did. Of course, she believed in her father’s innocence, just like any child would. But until she
understood how serious this was, it would be difficult to help the situation.
Chaim
“But whether you believe it or not does not help his case,” I said. “Once solid evidence is found, they’ll be
tried.”
She fell silent again.
I took a small step closer.
“The Alpha isn’t available right now,” I explained. “He’s dealing with this matter personally, and now isn’t the right time for anyone to confront him about it.”
Andrea nodded slowly.
“But I can promise you one thing,” I continued.
“I’ll speak to him on your behalf.”
Hope flickered briefly across her face.
“But before I do that,” I said, “I need something from you.”
She looked at me expectantly.
୮
“I need you to tell me everything you know… everything,” I said. “I don’t just want to hear about your father.
I want to understand this entire situation.”
I paused for a moment.
“I want to know what has been happening at the border. I want to know why things reached this point. And
I want you to leave nothing out,” I said.

Andrea didn’t hesitate this time.
“will,” she replied earnestly. “I’ll tell you everything I know.”
Just then, I heard the unmistakable sound of a door opening somewhere deeper inside the house.
The sound echoed faintly through the hallway.
I instinctively glanced over my shoulder.
A second later, I turned my attention back to Andrea.
If Alexander walked into this conversation now, there was every chance it would head in a completely
different direction before I had the opportunity to hear Andreà out.
I wasn’t ready for that.
“Walk with me,” I said calmly.
Andrea nodded without a word and fell into step beside me.
ALEXANDER
I was still irritated by everything Jacob had said back in the detention wing.
The accusations.
The smug confidence.
The way they had tried to twist the situation to make it seem as though I was abusing my authority simply
because he and the others had spoken up.
I knew exactly what those men were doing.
They were baiting me.
Funny how Faye thought I hadn’t realized that.
Of course I knew.
That didn’t change anything.
I wasn’t about to condone a deliberate act of treason simply because I wanted to prove a point.
Faye believed almost every situation could be resolved with a softer approach.
She probably had never dealt with mad wolves before.
Unfortunately, I had.
And men like Jacob only understood force.
All I needed now was proof.
Chapter 550
Aetual proof that they had been behind the attack on Faye.
The moment I had that…
I would make an example out of every last one of them.
I lifted my phone and dialed Derek’s number.
The call connected after only a few rings.
“Alpha,” Derek greeted.
Claim
“Derek, I need to see you,” I said without any preamble. “There’s an investigation I need you to carry out for
me.”
There was a brief pause on the other end before he answered.
“Of course, Alpha,” Derek replied. “Where would you like us to meet, and when?”
“I’m coming to your office,” I said. “I’d rather discuss it there.”
“I’m not at the office right now,” Derek explained. “But I’ll be there in about an hour.”
“That’s alright,” I replied. “I’ll meet you there.”
