A Warrior's Second Chance (Faye and Alexander) novel Chapter 564

Chapter 555

SILVER HOLLOW

JASON

I had chosen the location carefully.

Not far enough from the pack house to make it look suspicious, but far enough that no one would accidentally walk past and overhear a conversation that wasn’t meant for anyone else.

The events of the past few days had taught me one thing.

Information was just as dangerous as any weapon when it fell into the wrong hands.

I sat in my vehicle with the engine turned off, staring through the windshield as one of the investigators, Pius, approached.

The moment he reached the vehicle, I unlocked the passenger door.

He climbed in and closed it behind him.

There was no unnecessary greeting.

No wasted conversation.

He understood that some matters required urgency.

He placed a folder on his lap.

Then he placed a sealed evidence bag beside it.

I immediately recognized the object inside.

A phone.

The guard’s phone,Pius said.

For several seconds, I simply looked at it.

The last time we spoke, we had only suspicions.

The guard’s death had not made sense.

His body had been found away from the explosion site.

The injuries didn’t match what should have happened if he had been caught in the blast.

Someone had reached him before the explosion.

Someone had silenced him.

But until now, we had no idea why.

Chapter 565-

Where did you find it?I asked.

Pius looked down at the evidence bag.

Not at the scene.

My eyes moved back to him.

It was with someone close to hima friend of his,Pius said,

I frowned slightly.

The guard gave it to his friend?

Pius nodded. Before the explosion.”

That immediately caught my attention.

Why?

Pius leaned back slightly.

According to the friend, the guard knew something was wrong.

Pius opened the folder.

He said the guard didn’t explain much. He only told him that if anything happened to him, the phone needed to reach you, Alpha.

I stared at the evidence.

The guard had been afraid enough to prepare for his own death.

That meant whatever he knew, he considered dangerous.

Pius removed the first set of documents.

I had the phone examined.

He placed the papers between us.

The contents were recovered.

I picked up the first page.

It was a screenshot.

At first glance, it looked like ordinary communication.

Short messages.

Simple instructions.

Nothing that immediately stood out.

Then I started reading the details.

Supply movements.

Patrol changes.

Security rotations.

My expression hardened.

The guard had access to information he shouldn’t have been sharing.

He was an insider,I said.

Pius nodded.

Yes.

I looked through the screenshots again.

The messages went back months.

This wasn’t something that started recently.

The guard had been providing information for a long time.

Whoever was receiving the information had been patient.

Careful.

They weren’t acting randomly.

They had someone inside who understood how Silver Hollow worked.

Pius turned to another page.

These were also recovered from the phone.

The next set of images showed photographs.

Not personal pictures.

Documents.

The guard had taken pictures of records.

Delivery schedules.

Storage reports.

Lists of supplies moving through different locations.

He was keeping copies,” Pius said.

I looked at him.

Why would he keep evidence of his own involvement?

Chapter 555-

Pius was quiet for a moment.

Then he answered, “I guess at some point, he stopped trusting the people he was working with.

That made sense.

A person involved in something dangerous didn’t suddenly start collecting proof unless they believed they

might need protection.

Pius opened another file.

There were also several voice recordings saved on the phone.

I looked up.

They weren’t recordings of the guard speaking to himself or leaving confessions,Pius continued. They were recordings of conversations he secretly captured with the people giving him instructions.”

He slid a transcript across the space between us.

Our forensic team cleaned up the audio as much as possible.

I lowered my eyes to the papers.

According to the transcript, the recordings revealed that the guard had been reporting information from inside the pack for quite some time. They also showed that, toward the end, he had begun questioning the people he was working for and expressing his desire to walk away.

The responses he received made one thing painfully clear.

They no longer trusted him.

Pius continued.

There are also financial records,he said.

He brought up another document.

Transactions.

Multiple payments.

The same sender.

Different dates.

The amounts were not large enough to attract immediate attention.

But they were consistent.

The same pattern repeated again and again.

Money came in.

Information went out.

Chapter 555-

The guard had not been helping them out of loyalty.

He had been bought.

But then something shanged.

I looked at the dates.

The payments stopped shortly before the day of the explosion.

He became a problem,I said.

Pius nodded.

That’s what we believe.

I looked back at the phone.

The guard had started as a willing participant.

That much was clear.

He had betrayed the pack.

He had helped someone gain access to information that should have remained protected.

But somewhere along the way, he realized something.

The people he was working for weren’t going to protect him.

They weren’t going to reward his loyalty.

To them, he was just another tool.

And tools were discarded when they were no longer useful.

Pius pulled out one final piece of evidence.
