A Warrior's Second Chance (Faye and Alexander) novel Chapter 586

Chapter 573-1

FAYE

I stood up almost immediately after Ambrose disappeared through the door.

I didn’t even think about it.

My feet were already moving toward the stairs before I could convince myself to wait.

I walked toward the office, my thoughts moving faster than I could organize them.

I didn’t know what I expected to find. Maybe Alexander would be angry. Maybe he would look frustrated or disappointed.

I wouldn’t have been surprised if the conversation had ended badly.

When I opened the office door, however, the sight that greeted me was completely different from what I had imagined.

Alexander was sitting behind his desk.

Calm.

Relaxed.

Almost like nothing unusual had happened. He looked up when he saw me enter. For a moment, I simply stared at him.

You lookokay,I said.

One corner of his mouth lifted slightly.

Should I not?he asked.

I walked further into the room and closed the door behind me.

I don’t know.

I sat down in the chair across from him.

I expected you to look more upset,I added.

Alexander leaned back slightly.

That was the supervisor, right?I asked.

Chapter 573-1

I wanted to be sure.

Maybe I had misunderstood something. Maybe the person who had walked out was someone else entirelyanother Ambrose.

Alexander nodded.

Yeshe’s the one.

I nodded slowly.

How did the conversation go?

For a minute, he said nothing. Then a small smirk appeared on his face.

That caught my attention.

You look amused.

I wouldn’t say amused,he said.

I waited

Alexander folded his hands together on the desk.

Ambrose admitted everything.

My eyes widened slightly.

He did?

Yes.

I wasn’t expecting that.

ButAlexander started. His expression changed slightly.

He wasn’t acting alone,Alexander said. He claims he was forced into it.

My eyebrows pulled together.

Forced?

Alexander nodded.

According to him, his family was threatened.

I remained quiet as I processed that. It explained the fear I had seen on Ambrose’s faceThe hesitation.

Chapter 573-1

The way he seemed like he was carrying something too heavy for him

He didn’t look like a typical criminal.

So he wasn’t the person behind everything,I said

No.Alexander shook his head.

He was the person who made it possible.

I looked down briefly.

That was still a serious betrayal. Even if someone had pressured him, the consequences

remained the same.

Alexander watched me for a moment before continuing.

The interesting part is who he claims was behind it.

I looked back at him.

Who?

A small smile appeared on his face.

You wouldn’t guess,he said.

I thought about it. I honestly didn’t know. There were several people who had reasons to cause problems for Blood Crescent. But one name came to mind immediately.

Jacob.

Alexander’s expression shifted slightly.

Then he shook his head.

No.

I frowned.

Then who?

He looked directly at me.

Vince.

For a second, I didn’t react. The name didn’t make sense.

Not because I didn’t know who he was. Because I did

Chapter 57344

Andrea’s father.

My mind hadn’t gone there at all.

What?

The surprise must have been obvious because Alexander laughed quietly.

Not because it was funny.

But because he could see exactly how unexpected it was for me.

Your reaction says enough,he said.

I still couldn’t believe it.

Vince?

Alexander nodded.

That’s what Ambrose said. I’m still waiting for the proof he claimed to have.

I remained silent.

My thoughts immediately went back to every conversation I had ever had with Andrea. Every time she spoke about her father. Every time she defended him.

As if Alexander could read my mind, he spoke.

It seems your new friend either doesn’t know her own father as well as she thinks she does

He paused.

Or she has been manipulating you from the beginning.

HELEN

The bedroom was unusually cold as I sat against the headboard with a box of tissues beside me and a halffinished glass of water on the bedside table.

I wrapped my fingers around the glass and took a slow sip, hoping it would soothe the persistent irritation in my throat.

It didn’t.

The surprise must have been obvious because Alexander laughed quietly.

Not because it was funny.

But because he could see exactly how unexpected it was for me.

Your reaction says enough,” he said.
