Chapter 573-2
It was stained with blood.
For a few seconds, I simply stared at it.
The sight no longer shocked me. It hadn’t for days now.
I quietly folded the tissue and set it aside before another cough forced its way out of me. This one was stronger than the last.
I quickly climbed out of bed and hurried into the bathroom, pressing another tissue over my mouth. By the time I reached the sink, blood splattered into the white porcelain.
I gripped the edge of the sink as I waited for the coughing to stop.
When it finally did, I remained there for a long moment, breathing slowly as I tried to gather what little strength I had left.
My eyes lifted to the mirror.
I looked tired.
Far more tired than I allowed anyone else to see.
The potion wasn’t working the way it used to.
Initially, it had been enough to keep the effects of the dark magic under control. It had given me enough strength to move around almost normally and hide what was happening from everyone around me.
Now, it barely kept me on my feet.
I turned on the tap and carefully washed every trace of blood from the sink before throwing the stained tissues away. By the time I walked back into the bedroom, I already felt exhausted
The short walk from the bathroom to the bed shouldn’t have been difficult.
Lately, it always was.
I lowered myself back onto the mattress and reached for the glass of water again.
Tomorrow.
The thought alone brought a small smile to my face.
Chapter 673-2
Tomorrow, my children would all be together.
That was all I wanted.
I wasn’t planning to tell them the truth.
Not tomorrow.
Tomorrow wasn’t supposed to become a day of tears or fear. I didn’t want anyone looking at me differently.
Most of all, I didn’t want Faye blaming herself.
The poor girl already carried enough guilt for things that were never her fault. If she discovered that the magic I had used to bring her back had slowly been destroying me ever since, she would never forgive herself.
She would spend the rest of her life believing she had taken mine.
I couldn’t allow that.
Not when saving her was a choice I had made willingly.
I had known there might be consequences.
I had simply hoped I would have a little more time before those consequences caught up with me.
Then there was Alexander.
I smiled faintly as I thought about him.
My son would try to stay strong.
He always did.
He would keep his emotions buried beneath duty because that was how he had learned to survive. He would carry everyone else’s pain before allowing himself to acknowledge his
own.
But I knew him too well.
Behind that calm face, he would blame himself.
He would think about every visit postponed because work demanded his attention.
Every promise to stop by another day.

Maybe i would…
Tomorrow, I wanted to see them smiling
1 wanted to hear Irene teasing Alexander
I wanted Alexander pretending to be annoyed while secretly enjoying every minute of it.
1 wanted to watch Faye slowly settle into this family again without carrying another burden on her shoulders
I wanted to see Cole try to impress me with his cooking skills despite knowing nothing about
the kitchen
That made me laugh for a minute.
I wanted one ordinary day. One simple family gathering
