Chapter 592
FAYE
I waited.
The call rang until it ended.
I stared at Sage’s name on the screen for a few seconds, wondering if I should try again.
Maybe she was busy. Maybe she had stepped away from her phone.
That had to be the reason. I called once more. Again, there was no answer. After the second attempt, I decided to leave it.
I placed the phone back on the bed and let out a quiet breath. I would try again later. For now, I needed to get out of my own head.
The longer I stayed there, the more my thoughts kept returning to Helen. I pushed myself off the bed and walked toward the wardrobe.
I changed into a simple pair of pants and a t-shirt before leaving the room. My feet carried me toward Alexander’s office almost automatically.
When I reached the door, I opened it without knocking.
Alexander was there.
But he wasn’t alone.
Cole and Kyle were both seated with him, and from the looks on their faces, they had been in the middle of a serious discussion.
All three of them turned toward me.
“Hey,” Alexander said.
His expression softened slightly when he saw me.
Cole smiled.
“Joining us?”
I shook my head lightly.
“I didn’t know there was a meeting.”
< Chapter 592
Kyle gave me a small nod.
“You are welcome to stay.”
I returned the greeting and walked inside, taking the empty seat nearby.
I didn’t interrupt them. Whatever they were discussing was clearly important. Alexander
turned his attention back to the conversation.
“What were you saying?” Alexander asked.
I listened quietly.
From what I gathered, Alexander had finally received the evidence he had been waiting for
from Ambrose.
Whatever information he had been trying to obtain seemed to have finally fallen into place.
But Cole didn’t seem ready to let the matter end there.
“I still don’t think we should move too quickly,” Cole said.
Alexander looked at him.
“We have the evidence. What exactly are we supposed to be waiting for?” Alexander asked.
“I know,” Cole said.
Cole leaned forward slightly.
“And that’s exactly why we need to be careful,” he added.
I stayed silent, watching them.
Cole continued.
“If we go straight after Vince now, he’ll know everything we have against him.”
He tapped his fingers against his knee as he thought.
“He’ll have time to prepare. He’ll find a way to twist things, create excuses, or find someone else to take the blame.”
Alexander didn’t respond.
Cole looked between them.
“We need him to believe he is safe.”
Chapter 592
Kyle raised an eyebrow.
“So what do you suggest?” Kyle asked.
“We set a trap.”
Claim
Cole’s voice became more serious. He was usually the most patient one in situations like
this.
Alexander’s style was usually straightforward. He attacked as soon as he got his target locked in. It worked fine most of the time, but sometimes, Cole’s way worked better.
Kyle was usually the balance between the two.
“We let Vince continue thinking he has control. We give him room to make one more foolish move,” Cole said.
He paused.
“Then we wait until he exposes himself,” he added.
I understood the strategy even without being involved in the details.
If Vince believed no one was watching him, he would be more likely to make a costly mistake.
Cole continued.
“When that happens, we catch him in the act.”
He leaned back.
“By the time we present the evidence we already have, he’ll have nowhere left to run.”
The room became quiet. Alexander considered the idea. He didn’t dismiss it immediately.
That showed he was taking it seriously.
Kyle nodded after a moment.
“He’s right, Alpha.”
Alexander looked at him.
Kyle continued.
“If we arrest Vince now, he’ll only focus on defending himself against the evidence we already have.”
< Chapter 592
He folded his arms.
“But if we wait, he might reveal more. He might give us something stronger than what we already have… and make the job easier.”
Claim
Alexander remained silent. I watched him carefully. His mind was clearly working through every possibility.
Finally, he looked back at Cole.
“How do you plan to do this?”
Cole gave a small shrug.
“Leave that to me.”
Alexander raised an eyebrow.
“You already have a plan?”
“Not completely,” Cole said.
Cole smiled slightly.
“But I’ll figure it out,” he added.
He stood from his chair.
“I’ll let you know when everything is ready.”
Alexander nodded.
“Fine.”
Kyle stood as well. The conversation was over. They both said their goodbyes before leaving
the office.
I watched as the door closed behind them. The room became quiet.
It was only Alexander and me now.
ALEXANDER
I had finally gone through everything Ambrose sent.
There was more than enough to destroy Vince.
< Chapter 592
Messages, voice recordings, financial records… It was quite a lot.
Copies of approvals that had been altered after they left my office. Every file painted the same picture.
Vince hadn’t been operating from the shadows by chance.
Clairn
He had carefully built the entire scheme, using Ambrose’s position to make everything appeal legitimate.
The most disturbing part wasn’t even the fraud. It was the recordings. I looked across the desk at Faye as I spoke.
“One of the recordings was made after Ambrose told Vince he wanted out.”
She looked in my direction.
“He told Vince he couldn’t keep doing it anymore. He said he wanted to end everything before it got worse.”
I paused briefly.
“Vince didn’t argue,” I said.
I picked up my phone and glanced at one of the screenshots again.
“He threatened Ambrose instead.”
Faye remained quiet.
“He told him he knew where his wife and daughter lived.”
My jaw tightened slightly as I said it out loud.
“The message was very clear. If Ambrose spoke to anyone, his family would pay for it.”
I placed the phone back on the desk.
“That was enough to keep him quiet for months.”
I leaned back in my chair.
“Eventually, he reached a point where he couldn’t live with it anymore. But it’s unfortunate that
I had to catch him first before he confessed.”
I folded my arms.
“Good thing he’s willing to testify.”
Chapter 592
That finally gave us something we hadn’t had before.
A witness from inside.
Someone who could explain every step the fraud had taken.
Combined with the evidence Ambrose had already provided, Vince would have very little room to deny anything.
I continued explaining the details, expecting Faye to interrupt at some point.
Normally, she would have.
