Chapter 593
ALEXANDER
The smirk refused to leave my face.
“You just agreed to move out of our room.”
Faye stared at me.
Her expression shifted from confusion to complete disbelief.
“I did what?”
“You agreed,” I repeated, enjoying every second of it. “I suggested you move into the storage room, and you said it was a very good idea.”
She looked genuinely horrified.
“The storage room?”
I nodded.
“The storage room.”
She blinked several times before looking at me as though I had completely lost my mind.
“How?”
The single word came out with a mixture of disgust and confusion.
I couldn’t help laughing quietly.
“That,” I said, pointing at her with a finger, “is exactly what happens when someone pretends to be listening while their mind is somewhere else.”
She let out a long sigh and lifted a hand to tuck a loose strand of hair behind her ear.
A small, embarrassed smile found its way onto her face.
“Fine,” she admitted. “You caught me.”
“I know I did.”
She shook her head, laughing softly at herself.
“I honestly have no idea how I agreed to something like that.”

“I do.”
She looked at me.
“You weren’t listening to a single thing I was saying,” I said.
“I was listening to a point,” she said.
I raised an eyebrow.
“Were you?”
She opened her mouth to defend herself, then stopped.
A second later, she laughed and surrendered with a small nod.
“Okay… maybe not.”
“Exactly.”
The smile lingered on her face for another moment before it gradually faded.
I noticed it immediately.
That heaviness returned to her eyes just as quickly as it had disappeared.
I rested my forearms on the desk and looked at her more carefully.
“What is the problem, Faye? You know you can talk to me.”
She looked up but said nothing.
“I’ve noticed you’ve been like this since we got back.”
Her expression didn’t change.
She simply watched me quietly.
I held her gaze.
“Is it still your headache?”
FAYE
The way Alexander asked about my headache told me everything I needed to know.
He didn’t believe me then, and he won’t believe me now.
Not for a second. He wasn’t accusing me of lying. He wasn’t cornering me or demanding

another explanation. He simply asked the question in a way that made it obvious he already knew enough.
I lowered my eyes for a moment. A part of me wanted to tell him the truth. To tell him everything Helen had said beside the pool.
To tell him about the blood. About the coughing. About the fact that his mother was dying.
About the way Helen had looked at me with complete acceptance as she spoke about her own death.
Maybe if Alexander knew… Maybe together we could think of something.
The thought barely lasted a second before I dismissed it myself.
Who was I trying to fool?
The first person Alexander would run to in a situation like this was Helen.
And Helen herself had already accepted her fate.
She wasn’t looking for another answer.
She wasn’t searching for another spell or another healer. She believed there wasn’t one.
As for Alexander… He was brilliant in many things.
But when it came to traditional medicine… or magic…
Alexander knew even less than I did.
If Helen couldn’t find a way out after everything she knew, what exactly was Alexander supposed to do?
Telling him would just be breaking the promise I made to Helen for nothing.
I forced the thoughts away and shrugged lightly.
“I don’t think it’s anything serious.”
Alexander remained quiet.
I continued before he could ask another question.
I quickly found something to give him. “Sage has been calling me a lot lately.”
That immediately caught his attention,
Chapter 593
“It’s strange,” I said.
I frowned slightly.
“She keeps calling, but whenever we talk, she never really says anything important.”
I glanced down at my hands.
“I even missed one of her calls yesterday.”
I sighed.
“I completely forgot to call her back until today.”
Alexander listened without interrupting.
“I tried calling her just before I came here.”
I gave another small shrug.
“She didn’t answer.”
I smiled faintly.
“So I guess I’ve just been wondering if everything is alright.”

The explanation sounded believable enough. Mostly because part of it was true. Sage really had been calling more often than usual.
Alexander watched me for a moment before a small smile appeared on his face.
“I think you’re overthinking it,” he said.
“Maybe,” I said.
He nodded.
“She probably just misses you.”
A soft laugh escaped me.
“Maybe.”
He rested his arms on the desk.
“When are you planning to make that trip to Silver Hollow?”
I leaned back in my chair and thought about the question for a moment.
Chapter 593
“I don’t know,” I said.
Alexander raised an eyebrow.
“I mean it,” I said with a small laugh. “Some days I feel like leaving for Silver Hollow
immediately.”
“And other days?”
I sighed.
“Other days, I don’t even feel like going.”
I couldn’t really explain it.

Silver Hollow had always been home. No matter everything that had happened there, a part of me still belonged to that place.
But another part of me dreaded walking through those gates.
Too many memories lived there.
Some good. Far too many painful ones.
“I’ll probably go sometime this week,” I finally said. “I just haven’t decided when exactly.”
Alexander nodded slowly.
“Fair enough.”
