A Warrior's Second Chance (Faye and Alexander) novel Chapter 614

Chapter 594-2

Chapter 594-2

I placed my phone back on the desk and sat there quietly.

For some reason, the simple decision made me feel better.

Maybe because it was something I could do.

There were many things in life I couldn’t control.

Things I couldn’t change. Things I couldn’t protect people from.

But this? This was something small. Something within my reach.

I stood on the balcony, my hands resting lightly against the railing as I stared into the

distance.

The evening air moved gently around me, carrying a quietness that I hadn’t realized I needed

until that moment.

For the first time all day, there was no one asking me questions.

No one watching my expression closely.

No one trying to figure out what was going on inside my head.

Yet I didn’t feel any better because the moment I was alone, everything I had been trying to push aside came rushing back.

I was tired.

Not physically.

My body could handle exhaustion. I had been through enough battles, enough training, enough situations where pushing myself was the only option.

This was different.

I was tired of pretending.

Tired of acting like everything was normal when it wasn’t.

Since we returned, I had been carrying something I couldn’t share with anyone.

<Chapter 594-2

Every conversation with Alexander felt different because there was always a part of me holding back. Every time he looked at me, I wondered if he could see through the excuse !

had given him.

I wondered if he knew I was lying every time I told him I was fine.

And the worst part was that I wouldn’t even be surprised if he did.

Alexander knew me too well. He noticed things most people missed.

A change in my mood, a hesitation before I answered.

The smallest shift in my expression.

I had always known that hiding something from him would be difficult, but I didn’t expect it to feel this heavy.

I couldn’t keep doing this. I needed space. Maybe just a few days away would help me clear my head.

Maybe going back to Silver Hollow and spending some time there would give everyone the room they needed.

Maybe the time I would spend away would give Helen the chance to make her decision and

have the conversation she needed to have with her children.

That was the only thing I could do. I couldn’t force her. I couldn’t take that choice away from

her.

But I also couldn’t keep standing in front of Alexander and Irene every day, pretending I was fine when I was barely holding everything together.

The decision came quietly. I had already been considering going to Silver Hollow this week…

I just wasn’t sure before. But all of a sudden, I made up my mind.

I was going home.

This week.

The moment I accepted it, some of the pressure in my chest eased. The problem wasn’t

gone.

The weight was still there. But at least I finally had a plan… A direction. Something I could do instead of simply waiting and pretending.

My phone started ringing, pulling me out of my thoughts.

I looked down at the screen.

It was Sage.

A small smile appeared on my face.

“Hello.”

“Faye.”

Her voice came through immediately.

“I was wondering what happened to your phone,” she said.

I laughed softly.

“I’m sorry. I was busy yesterday and couldn’t take your calls. Then I forgot to call back.”

“It’s fine,” she replied. “I was busy too. When you called earlier, I was in a meeting.”

“I’m glad you called,” I said.

“Why?”

I looked back out over the balcony.

Then I smiled.

“Because I might have good news.”

There was a brief pause.

“What kind of good news?”

“I’m coming home this week.”

For a moment, there was silence. I thought she hadn’t heard me.

Then her voice came through again.

“You’re serious?”

I laughed.

“Yes.”

“Faye, really?…”

I could hear the surprise in her voice.

“This is actually good news.”
