Chapter 603
FAYE
The receptionist recognized me the moment I stepped inside the company.
Her face brightened almost immediately.
“Good afternoon, Mrs. Blackwell.”
I smiled politely.
“Good afternoon.”
There it was again.
Mrs. Blackwell.
I still wasn’t used to hearing it.
The humans who worked with Alexander knew nothing about mates or Luna titles. To them, the
explanation was simple enough. Alexander and I lived together. We were always seen together. He
introduced me openly everywhere we went, and more often than not, he behaved like a married
man.
So while some people still assumed I was his fiancée, most of them had already skipped that stage entirely and settled comfortably on calling me Mrs. Blackwell.
The first few times I heard it, I had almost looked over my shoulder to see if there was another
woman standing behind me.
Now, I simply smiled and accepted it, even though the title still managed to warm my cheeks every
single time.
I made my way upstairs at an unhurried
pace.
The familiar hallway leading to Alexander’s office was just as busy as always, employees moving in
and out with files tucked beneath their arms while conversations rose and faded around them.
The moment his secretary noticed me, she stood from behind her desk.
“Good afternoon, Mrs. Blackwell.”
I returned the smile.
“Good afternoon.”
“Mr. Blackwell is still in a meeting.”

“I figured.”
“He asked me to let you wait in his office if you arrived before he was done,” she said.
“Thank you.”
She gestured politely toward the office door.
“Can I get you anything while you wait?”
I shook my head.
“I’m alright.”
“Please let me know if you need anything,” she said.
“I will.”
She sat back down, and I gently pushed open Alexander’s office door before stepping inside.
The room looked exactly as I remembered.
Every file sat neatly where it belonged. His desk was spotless, the shelves perfectly arranged, and
not a single thing looked out of place.
I honestly wondered sometimes if disorder simply refused to exist around Alexander.
Closing the door quietly behind me, I placed my handbag on one of the chairs before taking a seat.
The office carried his familiar scent, clean and subtle, lingering in the air the same way it always
Ndid.
I leaned back comfortably and let my eyes wander around the room.
Several awards were displayed on one side of the office, while framed photographs from company
events decorated another. I wasn’t sure if they were part of a new arrangement or if I had simply
never noticed them before.
Then my eyes fell on a framed photograph sitting on Alexander’s desk. I smiled when I recognized it. It was the original picture he had used for the painting he made for me.
Seeing it there, displayed so openly, I told myself that this was exactly the kind of thing that made
people assume we were married.
Mrs. Blackwell…
I smiled at the thought of it again.
If Alexander knew how flustered I still became every time someone called me that, he would never

let me hear the end of it.
I could already picture the look on his face-that smug little smile that always appeared whenever
he caught me blushing over something I insisted wasn’t embarrassing.
I laughed softly.
“You’d enjoy this far too much,” I murmured to myself.
Almost as if he had heard me, the office door opened.
I looked up. Alexander walked inside, loosening the knot of his tie as he crossed the room.
The moment his eyes found me, the weariness from whatever meeting he had just left seemed to disappear. His expression softened, and the small smile he reserved only for me settled naturally
on his face.
“I’m sorry,” he said as he closed the door behind him. “I kept you waiting.”
“It hasn’t been that long.”
He studied me for a second, as though making sure I truly meant it, then gave a small nod.
“Give me a moment.
He moved behind his desk and made a quick call.
“Is it done?” Alexander said.
Whoever answered must have given him the response he wanted because he simply said, “Thank you,” before ending the call.
I folded my arms and smiled.
“Are you done? Because I’m getting hungry.”
His head lifted immediately.
“I apologize.”
