I stood near the edge of the training grounds with Kyle. The pack was still active around us, with warriors moving through their routines and the sounds of training carrying across the field.
Kyle stood beside me, going through a security report.
“There have been a few unusual movements near the northern border,” he explained. “The captain of the patrol team thinks it’s nothing that suggests an immediate threat, but there were unfamiliar
cks close to one of the routes.”
I looked toward the field as I listened.
“What do you think?”
“I don’t think it’s anything serious yet, but I believe we should increase patrols around that area for
a few days, just to make sure we are not overlooking anything.”
I nodded.
“Do it. But keep it discreet. There is no reason to create unnecessary concern among the pack,” I
said.
“Understood.”
Kyle continued explaining some other details, but halfway through the explanation, I stopped
paying attention.
Because I felt it again… the pressure. The same strange sensation I had felt before.
My body tightened slightly.
The first time it happened, I had convinced myself it was nothing. I had blamed it on stress and
exhaustion. The few days leading up to that day had been filled with too much happening at once, and with everything surrounding our visit to Helen, it had been easy to believe my body was simply reacting to the pressure I had been carrying.
I had assumed it was a one-time occurrence. Something unusual, but temporary.
But the moment that familiar pressure started forming behind my eyes again, I knew this was
different.
There was no reason for it to happen now. I wasn’t exhausted… I wasn’t overwhelmed.
I was standing in the training grounds, discussing a simple security matter with Kyle. And yet, the

same thing was happening again.

The pressure grew stronger, and I instinctively reached up, rubbing my temple.
Kyle noticed immediately and stopped talking.
“Alpha, are you alright?”
I didn’t answer before the pain shifted. It moved from my head and settled deeper, spreading into my chest.
My breathing changed. Then my wolf reacted. My hand moved to my chest as the sensation
intensified.
Aiden was restless. Something was happening to me.
Something I still couldn’t understand. My jaw tightened as I tried to keep control.
Kyle was still silent beside me.
I didn’t need to look at him to know he was watching.
Suddenly, my vision changed.
Then I saw Kyle’s expression change. His eyes widened slightly as he looked into mine.
The glow in my eyes.
Instinctively, Kyle took a step back.
I closed my eyes and focused on my breathing… slowly.
Carefully.
The sensation in my chest remained for a few moments longer before it finally began to fade.
My wolf settled, and the pressure disappeared.
When I opened my eyes again, everything had returned to normal.
Kyle was still watching me carefully.
“Are you alright?” he asked again.
I looked at him.
For a moment, I considered giving him the same answer I had given myself the first time.
That it was nothing, that it was just stress. But I couldn’t convince myself of that anymore.
And at the same time, I couldn’t explain what was actually going on with me.

Her calm voice came through the speaker.
For a brief moment, I hesitated.
