Chapter 607

Chapter 607

ALEXANDER

The door closed behind Dr. Adams, leaving the office quiet once again.

For a moment, I remained standing as I thought about the conversation we had just had. She had given me an explanation, one that was reasonable enough, but I still found myself unsatisfied with

Not that I thought she was completely wrong. It was simply because I hated not understanding

what was happening to me.

I had always been someone who relied on control. I preferred knowing what was happening, why it was happening, and what needed to be done about it.

Right now, I felt like I had none of those answers yet.

I ran a hand through my hair and allowed the silence to settle around me.

That was when I felt Aiden stir. It wasn’t in the same way as earlier. It was just the familiar presence of my wolf shifting inside me, making it clear that he was awake.

Normally, this would have been the point where Aiden spoke.

Aiden had never been the type to remain quiet when he had something to say. He was always

there with an opinion, a warning, or some unnecessary comment about something I was doing…

especially when we were alone.

But this time, there was nothing. I waited for a few seconds… still nothing.

A quiet sigh escaped me as I walked back toward my desk.

“You can stop being dramatic already.”

The silence continued.

I sat down and looked through the documents on my desk, pretending I wasn’t waiting for a

response.

Finally, his voice came.

“I’m not even doing anything,” Aiden said.

I looked up slightly.

“That is exactly what makes it annoying.”

I closed my eyes and rubbed my forehead.

“You have been acting up and refusing to say anything. Do you understand how irritating that is?”!

asked.

Aiden remained quiet for a moment. Then he responded.

“I thought you liked me quiet,” Aiden said.

I stared ahead. I swear, if there was a way I could punch him right now, I would have done it twice

“That is not helpful.”

I felt him move lazily before speaking again.

“I didn’t say I was trying to be helpful,” Aiden said.

A faint laugh escaped me.

Of course. This was exactly what I meant. Aiden had all the energy in the world when it came to

being difficult, but when I needed answers, he suddenly became quiet.

“You know something is wrong with us… I can feel it.”

Aiden went back to being silent. If I had any doubts about something being wrong with my wolf

before, those doubts had just disappeared.

I shook my head.

“You’re useless,” I said.

The door opened at that very moment, and Cole stepped inside. He took one look at me. His eyes moved around the room like he was looking for something before returning to me.

A small, knowing smile appeared on his face.

“Am I interrupting something?”

I looked at him, and his smile widened.

“I can come back later if you and whoever you are arguing with need privacy.”

The look I gave him should have been enough to make him stop. If looks could kill, Cole would have been dead before he finished that sentence.

Instead, he laughed.

“Alright, alright.”

He raised both hands in surrender.

“I’ll stop.”

He walked further into the office and took the seat across from me.

“I was only asking,” Cole said.

Clank

I ignored him. Cole placed the tablet he was carrying beside him and studied my expression. After

a moment, his amusement faded.

“What is wrong with you?”

I sighed. There was no point pretending everything was fine. Cole had known me for too long to

believe that.

“It’s Aiden.”

His expression changed immediately.

“What about him?”

I exhaled.
