"Brooke has already taken the blame. What more does that woman want?!" Rowena was vibrating with rage. If Starla hadn't insisted that an 'irrelevant' person couldn't take the fall, they never would have dragged their own family into this mess. Yet here they were—they had sacrificed Brooke, and Starla still wasn't satisfied. She was forcing them to choose between Yulisa and Rowena herself.

"Why?" Darian deadpanned. "Did you forget Yulisa is still her hostage?"

Reminded of Yulisa's captivity, Rowena's fiery temper cooled slightly, though she was still seething. "This isn't Starla's idea. I bet this is Tanya pulling the strings."

"Brooke is getting ripped to shreds online as we speak!" Starla cut him off sharply. "She's your own sister."

It was precisely because they had thrown Brooke under the bus that Starla refused to back down, even if Tanya had asked her to. Starla knew all too well the agony of being betrayed by family. She had never met Brooke, but she pitied the girl.

Listening to Darian's heavy breathing over the line, Starla added with dripping sarcasm, "A blood sister isn't as important as your little 'buddy,' huh?"

The word 'buddy' was laced with pure venom. Darian had always claimed Yulisa was just a platonic friend.
