A Widow's Poison, A Wife's Rebellion novel Chapter 1016

"You're still obsessed withโ€”" Patrick started, furious.

"If it's over, it's over!" the grandmother cut in sharply.

"Mom!" Rowena gasped.

"However wonderful she is, she's just a woman! There are plenty of good women in this world. We don't have to shackle ourselves to Yulisa Moore."

Unlike Rowena, the Elders weren't hyper-fixated on Yulisa. If it didn't work out, they'd simply find someone else.

Rowena started to panic. "Mom, you know Darian and Yulisa truly love each other. Tanya was just a mistake. Darian just hasn't realized his true feelings for Yulisa yet. When he finally wakes up and realizes he's lost her, he'll be heartbroken."

This was Rowena's core hatred for Tanya. She firmly believed Tanya had derailed the destiny between her son and Yulisa, who had grown up together. She thought Darian had just been momentarily distracted by a shiny new toy. Besides, look how frantic he was while Yulisa was being held hostage! He hadn't cared half as much when Tanya was being publicly crucified.

Hearing Rowena blabber about 'true love', both of the Elders' faces darkened ominously.

"What nonsense are you spewing about love?" the grandmother snapped. "Have you lost your mind?"

Families of their stature didn't operate on foolish romantic notions. For Rowena to babble about 'true love' made the grandmother look at her with outright disgust.

Meeting her mother-in-law's icy glare, Rowena felt her stomach drop. She had forgotten.

Years ago, Rowena had used the exact same excuseโ€”'true love'โ€”to manipulate her way into marrying Robert Lynn, displacing the daughter-in-law the grandmother had originally chosen. The older woman had resented her for it ever since. By using the same argument for Yulisa, Rowena had inadvertently killed whatever affection the grandmother had left for the girl.

She had never seen anyone meddle in someone else's business to this insane degree.

"You knew Tanya was close with her, and you still dared to pull this stunt?!" the grandmother reprimanded harshly. "As a mother, shouldn't you do basic background checks on the people surrounding the woman your son is involved with?!"

She knew Tanya was protected by Starla, yet she had bulldozed ahead anyway. Now they had kicked a hornet's nest.

Rowena shrank back, not daring to utter another word under the blistering lecture.

"No more of these pathetic stunts," the grandmother scoffed. "If the Lynn family's reputation takes one more hit because of you, you..."

The older woman paused, eyeing Rowena's pale face before delivering the final blow. "...You will no longer be a part of this family."
