A Widow's Poison, A Wife's Rebellion novel Chapter 1078

"Yeah," Herbert answered, his voice dripping with exhaustion. It sounded like he had zero good news.

"Any leads on her whereabouts?" Yardley asked anyway.

"None."

"Do you know who took her?"

"No."

Yardley let out a frustrated sigh.

"Unless I'm mistaken, there was no fourth party out there," Herbert suggested smoothly.

Garret had already confirmed they couldn't find traces of another syndicate.

"Remember what happened at Manton Isle?" Herbert prompted. He didn't finish the sentence, but the implication was loud and clear.

Yardley's eyes widened as the realization hit him. Back at Manton Isle, Starla had lured him and Herbert away, hiring her own mercenaries to coordinate with Amos.

"Then it looks like it was her own people," Herbert concluded.

The more Herbert spun the narrative, the more Yardley bought it. Starla was a mastermindโ€”she had proven that by advising Amos. She was incredibly calculating.

"If that's the case, finding her is going to be near impossible," Yardley groaned.

If her own people had taken her, then she was deliberately hiding from them.
