A Widow's Poison, A Wife's Rebellion novel Chapter 1094

"And do you think you have any right?" Amos fired back. "Honestly, out of everyone here, I don't think a single one of you has the right," Amos pointed out.

He had a knack for hitting where it hurt, always seeing straight to the core of an issue. In his eyes, Fairfax definitely had no right.

But neither did Herbert, and certainly not Yardley.

"She wouldn't want to go with him!" Yardley argued.

This wasn't about who had the right anymore.

It was about what Starla would have wanted...

"But if she were here, she wouldn't want to go with you either," Amos stated flatly.

It wasn't a 'maybe.' It was a fact!

Whether it was Herbert, Yardley, or Fairfax... Starla despised the sight of all three. She wouldn't have wanted to leave with any of them.

"Don't push me, or I'll kill him!" Yardley warned, his cold glare fixed on the unconscious Fairfax.

Yardley had zero patience for Amos's lectures right now.

A palpable, murderous aura seeped from him, effectively killing Amos's thought of taking Starla's belongings.

Even though Amos knew Fairfax would throw a massive fit once he woke up.

With both Herbert and Yardley standing guard, there was no way he could take anything of Starla's.

And so!

Amos left, dragging away a heartbroken, unconscious Fairfax.

Once they were gone, it was just Herbert and Yardley left. Yardley turned his gaze to Herbert.

An entire night had passed!

For a man like Yardley, feelings of sorrow were usually fleeting.

No matter what pulled at his heartstrings, he rarely allowed himself to wallow in excessive grief.

But when it came to Starla...

To Yardley, this looked like a man whose soul had been completely shattered.

Of course he's heartbroken, right?

After all, Herbert had been deeply in love with Starla. When he found out Fairfax had taken her to the Cyrus Sea, he had been a walking nightmare, furious and miserable every single day.

Because of Starla, Herbert had even opposed several of Yardley's recent business decisions.

That was something he rarely ever did!

When it came to profit and power, they had always stood firmly on the same side. Herbert practically never questioned Yardley's strategies.

But recently, he had pushed back against Yardley time and time again, all for her sake.

He must have loved her to death...

And now, he was willing to throw away his entire empire for her.

"But she's gone now," Yardley finally said. "What's the point of giving everything up?"
