"Can you handle it?" Yvonne challenged. "Can you bring Yardley's mother back to life?"

Amos shook his head. "No."

"Then you can't get involved."

Unless Yardley and Starla's mother were somehow resurrected, this feud would remain the deepest, bloodiest scar between him and the Yelchins.

Just moments ago, Amos had confidently told Fairfax that Yardley wouldn't kill Susanna. Now, he wasn't so sure. It was impossible to predict! Judging by his actions, Yardley seemed dead set on annihilating the entire Yelchin bloodline.

"Damn... this grudge runs deep," Amos muttered, realizing how insane the situation had become.

"Are we going to Sylvan Vale?" Yvonne asked.

Amos nodded firmly. "Yes. We have to."

Just as she said, this was entirely out of their hands. It wasn't about a lack of loyalty. Even the strongest brotherhood couldn't fix a blood feud. Intervening would only drag them down with the sinking ship.

"Then let's get ready to leave."

"Did you say Romy left?" Amos asked, changing the subject.

Speaking of Romy, she had suddenly declared she was leaving to pursue her dreams. It had caught both Yvonne and Amos completely off guard. Where did this sudden passion come from?

Yvonne nodded. "Yeah."

"Where did she go to chase these dreams?"

Fairfax's expression darkened. "A vacation?"

He scoffed. They had used that exact excuse last time. It wasn't a vacation; it was a blatant refusal to help him. He closed his eyes, fighting back his frustration.

Fine. This was his problem to settle with Yardley anyway. He hadn't necessarily wanted to drag Amos into it, but seeing his friend abandon him without a second thought still stung.

His phone vibrated. It was Susanna.

Fairfax answered, his tone dripping with cold authority. "Why didn't you listen to me?"
