A Widow's Poison, A Wife's Rebellion novel Chapter 1185

Percy frowned. "If you're planning to go after Mr. Hoggart for revenge, it's a suicide mission."

No matter how many men they had in Cyrus Sea, they were no match for Yardley.

"Get them ready!" Fairfax ordered through gritted teeth, entirely ignoring Percy's warning.

At that moment, he was like a cornered, rabid animal. His eyes were dark and feral, masking a violent urge to rip Yardley apart with his bare hands.

...

Meanwhile, in Smaro Town, Starla quickly received the news of Susanna's return to Yoran Country.

Herbert sat across from her. "Darleen, Xenia, and Harley—they're all dead in Yoran Country."

Starla's brow twitched. She looked at him sharply. "What did you say?"

"Everyone you hated is gone. Anyone connected to your mother's death."

"Yardley found out?" she asked softly.

He had to know. Why else would he orchestrate something so brutally unhinged? The thought of Xenia—who should have been rotting in a Marina City prison—made her blood boil. Fairfax's constant interference had turned Starla's carefully planned retribution into a joke.

Compared to him, Yardley's methods were far more satisfying. Why waste time talking? It was only because of Starla's moral upbringing that Xenia had managed to breathe for as long as she did. Unfortunately for her, Fairfax hadn't appreciated that mercy.

If Xenia had just stayed locked up, facing her rightful punishment, Yardley might never have noticed the Yelchins while investigating his mother's case. In a way, Fairfax had personally escorted his entire family to their graves.

Herbert nodded. "He definitely found out."

"There's no 'definitely.' He knows."

If Susanna was in Yoran Country, and they knew about it here, Fairfax definitely knew by now.

"He's gathering his forces in Cyrus Sea. He's planning to go head-to-head with your brother."

Starla fell silent. So, it really was an endless cycle of blood for blood. But then she scoffed. "What right does he have to seek revenge against Yardley?"

If anyone lacked the right to claim vengeance, it was the Yelchins.

"He probably feels like his family took a massive loss, considering how many died," Herbert suggested.

Starla let out a dry, humorless laugh. A loss? The Yelchins had lived for years without an ounce of guilt, while she had been trapped in a living hell mourning her mother. They hadn't lost anything—they had simply paid back the borrowed time they stole.

"Are you worried about him?" Herbert asked quietly.
