A Widow's Poison, A Wife's Rebellion novel Chapter 1202

Half an hour later, Yardley finally appeared.

His gaze swept over the fruit knife pressed against her throat, his eyes darkening. "Drop it."

Just two words, delivered as a cold, absolute command.

Susanna tightened her grip on the handle. "I just have two questions!"

Yardley narrowed his eyes.

"I said, drop it."

His voice was laced with pure danger.

The sheer intimidation radiating from him made it hard for her to breathe. Her hand trembled, accidentally pressing too hard.

The sharp edge broke the skin on her neck, and a trickle of blood trailed down her collarbone.

The stark red made the maid standing behind Yardley gasp and cover her mouth.

Yardley’s already dangerous gaze turned downright lethal.

The temperature in the room seemed to drop below freezing.

Feeling the terrifying aura rolling off him, Susanna instinctively gripped the knife tighter. She was terrified of him...

So, so terrified!

Especially when he was silent. His eyes looked like they could swallow her whole.

"I... I just have two questions."

Crushed under his overwhelming presence, she could barely stutter the words out.

But she had to ask!

"Ask," Yardley demanded.

Just one word, dangerous to the core.

But at least he had conceded. She swallowed hard. "Did my brother come to Maxlandia?"

"Yes."

"Is he... is he still alive?"

Her voice trembled uncontrollably as she asked, tears welling in her eyes.

Completely losing her mind, Susanna collapsed onto the floor and sobbed uncontrollably.

Yardley watched her break down, his eyes narrowing. "Are those people really worth your tears?"

He had investigated the Yelchin family thoroughly the moment he found Starla. He knew exactly what kind of trash they were.

They hadn't even treated Susanna well!

So her devastating reaction over their demise confused him.

His cold, indifferent tone pushed her completely over the edge. "Yardley Hoggart, you don't have a heart! No wonder she wanted to get away from you guys, even if it meant dying!"

She thought of how much Starla had despised them in the end. Whether it was Fairfax or Yardley, Starla had been desperate to escape them all.

Who would want to live with lunatics?

Fairfax was irrational, but her own brother was a complete psychopath! Both of them were suffocating.

Hearing her bring up Starla, Yardley’s eyes darkened ominously.

Recently, no one dared to mention that name around him. It had become a strict taboo.

She was his flesh and blood, his sister.
