A Widow's Poison, A Wife's Rebellion novel Chapter 1245

After his brutal fight with Herbert, Fairfax seemed to have experienced a moment of terrifying clarity. He finally understood that he was the root of all the destruction. His obsession with revenge against Starla had faded significantly.

But miles away in Maxlandia, Susanna Yelchin was far from letting things go.

Once Starla's staunchest defender, Susanna was now practically begging Yardley Hoggart for a reckoning. She demanded an explanation for everything Starla had done to the Yelchin family.

Previously, Yardley had tormented Susanna over what happened to his mother, but the tables had turned.

"You either let me go, or you give me justice for my family!" Susanna demanded.

"Are you threatening me?" Yardley's voice was dangerously low.

Threatening him? No one in Maxlandia threatened Yardley Hoggart. He was the one who pulled the strings.

"Don't I deserve an explanation?" Susanna looked at him, her eyes brimming with anguish. Her brief flash of courage melted under his icy, murderous glare. Taking a shaky breath, she pressed on. "My parents, my sister... they all died because of you. All because your sister claimed our family killed your mother! Who caused all of this? Shouldn't Iβ€”"

"Enough!" Yardley snapped, cutting her off. "You just want to use this as an excuse to leave. Well, keep dreaming."

"Then shouldn't Starla pay a price? So many lives from my family were lost!"

A tense, suffocating silence filled the room. Yardley stared at her, his eyes cold and devoid of empathy.

And now Susanna was demanding that Yardley choose between the two of them. If Starla felt discarded again, it might destroy her completely.

"So, you're choosing to abandon me?" Susanna whispered, holding his gaze.

Yardley's eyes turned lethal. His hand shot out, gripping her throat with crushing force. "Keep pushing me, and I'll kill you right now. And then I'll kill Fairfax. You want to talk about the Yelchins? The family that forced her to be abandoned over and over? I'll send every last one of them to hell. How does that sound?"

Susanna's already pale face drained of all color. He was a monster. An absolute lunatic.

She clawed desperately at his wrist. "L-let go!"
