"It's to win over your future sister-in-law," Yardley explained.
Her future sister-in-law! Starla vaguely remembered Yardley mentioning he was pursuing someone. As the heir to the Hoggart Group, it was only fitting that he wooed women with eight-figure gifts.
"When is it?" she asked.
"Three days from now. You'll go with Herbert."
"I can go by myself," Starla grumbled, slightly annoyed. In the years she'd been with Fairfax, he had taken her to numerous auctions. She knew how they worked. Why did she need Herbert to accompany her?
"I've already spoken with him," Yardley said firmly. "It's a high-value item, after all."
Starla sighed. High value? Was he worried she'd get robbed? That seemed a bit extreme.
Before she could protest further, Yardley hung up. She stared at her phone. Seriously? He was really worried about her getting robbed?
...
Later that evening, Tanya, having heard that Starla was back at Cosmos Summit, rushed over after work. She was still dressed in her business suit.
"Have you eaten?" Starla asked.
"I grabbed a bite on the way, but I'm still starving. Can you have someone make me some pasta?" Tanya requested. A long day at the office had completely drained her energy.
Starla immediately asked the kitchen staff to prepare something for her.
Tanya took a quick shower and changed into a pair of Starla's pajamas. They had been close for years in Marina City, often sharing everything. Whenever Starla had a fight with Fairfax, she would show up at Tanya's place without any luggage and just wear her clothes.
"With something that big, how could I not? Doesn't everything that goes wrong with the Yelchin family get blamed on me?"
"True," Tanya conceded. For the past two years, any misfortune that befell the Yelchins was somehow traced back to Starla. This was especially true for all the incidents involving Brinley in the last six months. Even when Brinley had a depressive episode, they would question if Starla had said something to trigger it. So, with a baby's death, they would undoubtedly point the finger directly at her.
"So they're saying you killed the baby?"
"What else?" Starla said with a wry smile. "How do you think I ended up back here at Cosmos Summit?"
"Fairfax let you go?" Tanya's eyes widened in surprise.
Starla's attempts to leave had been increasingly dramatic lately, yet no matter what she did, Fairfax refused to grant her a divorce, keeping her by his side. For him to suddenly let her return to Cosmos Summit... it was a shocking turnaround for a man like him. He's not an easy person to convince.

"You're a failure as a husband and coward as a Man" This is what i want to say in Fairfax hahaha you dont deserved a wife if you cant protect her...
Hahaha This plot of story i hate about, choosing another girl instead of your own wife is something unreal, you didnt considered your wife feeling, you didnt even trust her and later on you will say sorry?? Was sorry will fixed everything you've done? Was sorry fixed her heart? it was unfair for your wife, you must choose your wife whatever it is. You know your wife well more than anyone else and the only person she should lean on was the person who pushes her away...
