“You—”
“However,” Starla interrupted her with a cold smile.
Her sudden sharp tone made Brinley’s stomach clench. “However what?”
“Your mother seems to care a great deal about Quest, doesn’t she? What’s their relationship?”
Brinley was taken aback. Quest? What did he have to do with her mother? What kind of question was that?
“What are you trying to say?”
“What I’m trying to say isn’t important,” Starla replied. “But I imagine if she comes back and finds out you haven’t managed to get Quest released, she might just come looking to settle a score… with you.”
The last two words floated from Starla’s lips, sending a shiver down Brinley’s spine.
Before her mother left for Yoran Country, she had repeatedly stressed the importance of dealing with Quest. She had even called a couple of days ago to ask about him. He was still in Fairfax's custody, and Brinley could hardly even get a moment alone with Fairfax, let alone discuss Quest. But now, with Starla bringing him up, Brinley sensed there was more to it than just a casual mention.
“And your mother also has Clyde by her side, correct?” Starla added.
Another jolt went through Brinley.
“What are you trying to say? Can you just spit it out?” Brinley snapped, her anxiety rising.
“Oh, I’m not trying to say anything,” Starla replied with a sly smile. “You were the one who said your mother was coming to settle scores with me. Ability, time, focus… she’d be lucky to have two out of the three.”
The implication was clear: when Harriet returned from Yoran Country, she would be far too preoccupied to bother with Starla.
Starla glanced at the bags in Xenia’s hands and gave Garret a subtle look. He understood immediately and motioned for two maids to step forward. They nodded and walked directly toward Xenia.
Seeing them approach, Xenia instinctively took a step back. “What do you want?”
The two maids snatched the takeout from her hands. Darleen, enraged, moved to intervene, but two more maids stepped forward and restrained her. The takeout was carried off to the kitchen.
“Have you lost your mind?” Darleen screamed at Starla.
“From now on, anything that comes into this house must be inspected,” Starla said calmly. “What if you tried to bring poison back with you?”
The suspicion was, on the surface, entirely logical. But the forceful way she carried it out was a profound humiliation.

"You're a failure as a husband and coward as a Man" This is what i want to say in Fairfax hahaha you dont deserved a wife if you cant protect her...
Hahaha This plot of story i hate about, choosing another girl instead of your own wife is something unreal, you didnt considered your wife feeling, you didnt even trust her and later on you will say sorry?? Was sorry will fixed everything you've done? Was sorry fixed her heart? it was unfair for your wife, you must choose your wife whatever it is. You know your wife well more than anyone else and the only person she should lean on was the person who pushes her away...
