To put it more bluntly, he was telling her that her behavior was unacceptable.
After years of being married to Fairfax, Starla was an expert at deciphering the hidden meanings in his words.
She let out a cold laugh. “I would have had my people cook for them, but would they have dared to eat it?”
Fairfax’s heart sank. Their eyes met across the table. Hers were filled with amusement, while his were a sheet of ice.
“Tell me,” he said, his voice laced with suppressed anger, “what exactly are you doing back here?”
It was clear that the Yelchin household had descended into chaos in a single day, and Fairfax’s patience had reached its limit. The pressure from work was already immense, and now the turmoil at home was pushing him over the edge. All his previous restraint toward Starla was curdling into fury.
As he watched the smile fade from her eyes, Fairfax’s anger became even harder to contain. “You don’t want the divorce anymore, is that it? Fine. Then come back with me to Luwood Mountain!”
“But Luwood Mountain isn’t the Yelchin family estate, is it?” Starla replied coolly.
“What are you trying to say?”
“I’m saying that as your wife, I’m a Yelchin. That means I have every right to live here, in the main family house, don’t I?”
Fairfax was speechless.
“Weren’t they always so eager for me to come back?” Starla continued, her voice dripping with sarcasm. “Besides holidays, you’d be at work, and they’d be calling, demanding I come over. What’s wrong? Now that I’m here, they’re not happy? This should be perfect for them. They loved the idea of me coming back to serve them. Well, now I’ve moved right in.”
The word ‘serve’ made Fairfax take another deep drag from his cigarette. “Since when have you ever been so obedient?”
“I brought this entire staff back to take care of you. Isn’t that sincere enough?” Starla asked.
Darleen, Xenia, and Brinley were rendered speechless.
So was Fairfax.
“I came back with the best intentions, to serve you all, but you wouldn’t let me,” Starla continued, her voice taking on a sharper edge. “I was just trying to check the food prepared outside to make sure it was good for you, and you refused to eat at all. If that’s not being difficult to please, then what is?”
“You call that checking?” Darleen shrieked, her voice cracking. “You were clearly poisoning it!”
Darleen was practically vibrating with fury. She had never seen Starla act so brazenly. They had been starving all day while she created one disaster after another.

Why The ML is Idiot 😂😂😂 i Dont understand,i Think herbert is more suitable to become the ML he is most compose and calm than the ML 😂😂...
"You're a failure as a husband and coward as a Man" This is what i want to say in Fairfax hahaha you dont deserved a wife if you cant protect her...
Hahaha This plot of story i hate about, choosing another girl instead of your own wife is something unreal, you didnt considered your wife feeling, you didnt even trust her and later on you will say sorry?? Was sorry will fixed everything you've done? Was sorry fixed her heart? it was unfair for your wife, you must choose your wife whatever it is. You know your wife well more than anyone else and the only person she should lean on was the person who pushes her away...
