"It’s all because of Herbert," Fairfax slurred. "The old man should know better. First, he tries to steal my wife, and now he's backing Starla while she tears my life apart."
Darian and Caden exchanged a wary glance. The moment Herbert’s name came up, the conversation became dangerous. And calling him an 'old man'—even though Herbert was a few years their senior—felt like tempting fate.
Still, the part about stealing his wife… it was starting to look more and more like the truth. Just as they couldn't comprehend Fairfax's devotion to Brinley, they were equally baffled by Herbert's unwavering support for Starla. The whole situation was a mess!
"You," Fairfax said, suddenly turning his gaze on Caden. "Go to the Yelchin estate tomorrow."
"What? Why me?" Caden asked, taken aback.
"Go talk to her. Convince her to agree to the divorce."
Caden stared at him, speechless. Darian looked equally stunned.
Caden felt a surge of exasperation. Whenever Fairfax couldn't find Starla, he was the one sent to track her down. Now he was supposed to convince her to leave? It was ridiculous.
"Hasn't she only been back for a day?" Caden asked, a note of morbid curiosity in his voice. What could she possibly have done in just twenty-four hours to make the man who had desperately clung to their marriage now desperate to end it?
"One day," Fairfax scoffed. "One day was enough to nearly kill everyone."
"If I had a choice, I'd never divorce her," Fairfax admitted, his voice hollow. The mere thought of it left a gaping void in his chest. A terrifying question crept into his mind: what would he do after she was gone? He had lived perfectly fine before her, but now, after their time together, everything felt different.
His phone buzzed again, as it had been doing ever since Caden and Darian found him. A few calls from Gabriel at the office were expected, but this incessant buzzing could only be Darleen or Xenia.
Fairfax ignored it.
Home... It used to be a warm place. Being with Starla had felt warm. But now, the idea of home filled him with dread.
Luwood Mountain was gone, burned. Where was he supposed to go? Back to that living hell at the family estate?

Why The ML is Idiot 😂😂😂 i Dont understand,i Think herbert is more suitable to become the ML he is most compose and calm than the ML 😂😂...
"You're a failure as a husband and coward as a Man" This is what i want to say in Fairfax hahaha you dont deserved a wife if you cant protect her...
Hahaha This plot of story i hate about, choosing another girl instead of your own wife is something unreal, you didnt considered your wife feeling, you didnt even trust her and later on you will say sorry?? Was sorry will fixed everything you've done? Was sorry fixed her heart? it was unfair for your wife, you must choose your wife whatever it is. You know your wife well more than anyone else and the only person she should lean on was the person who pushes her away...
