A Widow's Poison, A Wife's Rebellion novel Chapter 384

It was all her mother’s fault for being so stingy, leading them to this disaster. Now, with Starla's unyielding attitude, Xenia feared the worst.

Her fears were confirmed a moment later.

“I want the entire Yelchin Group,” Starla declared.

The words hit Darleen like a physical blow. Her head buzzed as if a million ants were gnawing at her brain, and a sharp pain shot through her skull. “The entire Yelchin Group? How dare you even suggest such a thing?”

Starla was truly the family’s curse. Fairfax had never believed her when she’d said it before, but now here was the proof.

Starla rose to her feet, her gaze locking onto Darleen with an icy intensity. “So, is it a deal?”

“In your dreams!” Darleen snarled.

The Yelchin Group was a legacy, built by Fairfax’s grandfather and passed down through the generations. It represented decades of their family’s hard work. To give it all to her would be to betray their ancestors. If they lost the Yelchin Group, they would lose everything. They would become the greatest failures in the family’s history!

Xenia stared at Starla in disbelief. “Who do you think you are?” she screamed, her restraint finally snapping. “Demanding the Yelchin Group? Look at yourself! You’re not worthy!”

She had been holding back for days, terrified of Starla’s thuggish servants, but this was the final straw. If Starla took the company, there would be nothing left for any of them.

“No?” Starla said with a dismissive shrug. “Fine by me. I’ll just continue being the mistress of the Yelchin family.”

The title “mistress of the family” made Darleen’s face turn ashen.

The rules Darleen had established were, of course, the ones she had created specifically to torment Starla. Now she was threatening to use those same rules against them. Darleen’s vision began to swim. “Get out of my house! This isn’t your home!”

“Says who? I am Fairfax’s wife. How is this not my home? Let’s not waste time on such a meaningless topic.”

“You and he will get a divorce!”

“But we haven’t yet, have we?” Starla replied, her voice smooth as ice.

And that was the problem. Because they weren’t divorced, there was absolutely nothing they could do!
