"I don't care what you want Kael to do for you. We're getting a divorce, now!" Fairfax snarled into the phone. "Otherwise, I'll make sure you and that old fossil are finished!"
The rage in his voice was palpable, as if he was ready to strike at any moment, to bring Kael crashing down.
But to Starla, his anger was just a joke. In response to his threat, she uttered three simple words. "Be my guest."
Then she hung up.
Fairfax, still walking on the street, heard the dial tone buzz in his ear, and his mind exploded. She wasn't afraid of his threats. Fine. Just fine. He'd show her exactly how he would pull that old man Kael from his high perch at Hoggart Group. Then he'd see what resources she and Herbert had left to be so arrogant.
He thought of all the benefits Herbert had reaped from Hoggart Group over the years. Without Hoggart, Herbert would surely be in the same desperate position he was in now. He wanted Herbert to taste the bitterness of an untenable situation.
With each disconnected call from Starla, Fairfax's fury mounted. The moment he got into his car, he dialed her number again.
As always, she answered. Her willingness to pick up, combined with her dismissive attitude, was far more infuriating than when she used to ignore his calls.
"Still have the energy to call me?" she drawled. "It seems my road blockade was a bit too short. Should I extend it?"
"What more do you want? You've already turned the entire Yelchin family upside down. Aren't you satisfied?"
The current detour was already a massive inconvenience. It was manageable for him, but for Xenia and Darleen, the long walk left them exhausted for days. And she wanted to extend it? She might as well just break their legs.
"Starla!"
Her indifferent tone sent Fairfax into another rage. What was wrong with her? Had she become completely impervious in her quest for revenge against his family?
"Do you hate me that much? Hate the Yelchin family? Why? Just tell me why!"
"Why?" Her voice dropped, laced with ice. "Your family was responsible for the death of my children, andβ¦"
She trailed off, the silence on the line becoming heavy and suffocating.

"You're a failure as a husband and coward as a Man" This is what i want to say in Fairfax hahaha you dont deserved a wife if you cant protect her...
Hahaha This plot of story i hate about, choosing another girl instead of your own wife is something unreal, you didnt considered your wife feeling, you didnt even trust her and later on you will say sorry?? Was sorry will fixed everything you've done? Was sorry fixed her heart? it was unfair for your wife, you must choose your wife whatever it is. You know your wife well more than anyone else and the only person she should lean on was the person who pushes her away...
