Forced her? Darleen scoffed internally. In her eyes, Brinley was nothing but a conniving bitch who, along with Felix, had orchestrated her son’s death.
Earlier that day, Darleen, Xenia, and Sally had eaten lunch together, all under the watchful eye of Starla’s staff. She knew for a fact that Sally hadn’t been able to sneak any food to Brinley.
Hearing Darleen’s taunt, Brinley froze. Nothing to eat tonight either? She was already so hungry she felt faint.
But no, she wouldn’t give in to Starla. She refused to believe that bitch would actually let her starve to death.
Ignoring Darleen, Brinley went straight to her room.
Xenia, still pale from her recent fever, saw Brinley retreat and approached Darleen. “Is she still refusing to work?” she asked quietly.
Had Brinley still not grasped the reality of their situation? No matter how much they resented it, their only option for now was to submit to Starla.
“She’s not hungry enough yet,” Darleen sneered. “I hope she starves.”
She thought of all the back-breaking work she’d done, only to have to give half her food to Brinley. And after the attitude Brinley had just shown her, Darleen felt she’d been nursing a viper. Her poor Faraday had fallen victim to this venomous woman’s schemes.
The more she thought about it, the more her anger burned, until she couldn’t take it anymore and stormed off toward the kitchen.
…
Back in her room, Brinley immediately called Felix. Though she had stood defiantly before Darleen, convinced Starla wouldn’t dare let her starve, a chilling realization settled in once she was alone. The Starla of today was absolutely capable of it.
The phone was halfway through its second ring when Felix answered. “Do you have any idea what you’re doing calling me right now?” he hissed, his voice sharp with anger.
Brinley, already overwhelmed with misery, was taken aback. “Why are you talking to me like that?”
Brinley felt the blood drain from her face. Fairfax was investigating her? How was that possible? He believed her, she was sure of it. Why would he investigate?
“Are you… are you sure?”
“Don’t contact me again for a while,” Felix warned, his voice grim. “Not if you want to stay alive.”
“But I need your help! I can’t survive in the Yelchin family estate anymore!” A desperate urgency filled her voice. She had to get out. The thought of her and Felix’s son in the hospital, waiting for the Yelchins to bring in Justin Gass, was now a distant concern. This life here was unbearable.
“Felix, you don’t understand how vicious Starla has become, she’s trying to starve me—”
“Beep. Beep. Beep.”
The line went dead. The dial tone buzzed in Brinley’s ear, mocking her unfinished plea. Stunned, she felt something inside her chest crack and splinter.

"You're a failure as a husband and coward as a Man" This is what i want to say in Fairfax hahaha you dont deserved a wife if you cant protect her...
Hahaha This plot of story i hate about, choosing another girl instead of your own wife is something unreal, you didnt considered your wife feeling, you didnt even trust her and later on you will say sorry?? Was sorry will fixed everything you've done? Was sorry fixed her heart? it was unfair for your wife, you must choose your wife whatever it is. You know your wife well more than anyone else and the only person she should lean on was the person who pushes her away...
