She had been dealing with one mess after another. Her life in Yoran Country had been a living hell recently, a constant, chaotic struggle.
"To think the great Yelchin family has been brought to its knees by a bitch. It's truly an eye-opener," she scoffed.
Even though she herself was being crushed by Starla, Harriet couldn't help but feel contempt for the Yelchins. Perhaps it was easier to blame them for all her frustrations. After all, both she and the Yelchins had once looked down on Starla with disdain. Now, that same person was making them all suffer immensely.
"Mom, what do I do now?" Brinley sobbed. "Fairfax is investigating my connection to Felix, and Starla is so ruthless. I can't live like this anymore."
The news that Fairfax was looking into her and Felix nearly made Harriet faint. She didn't know what to say to her daughter anymore.
"Who can you blame but yourself?" She had warned Brinley about Felix repeatedly, but she hadn't listened, continuing to meet with him in secret.
"What did you do for Felix?" Harriet demanded.
"I..."
"Never mind," Harriet cut her off. "With your brain, Felix must have used you for plenty."
Hearing the dial tone, Brinley's tears flowed freely. She thought of Darleen's coldness, Fairfax's unanswered calls, and now her own mother's abandonment. She felt utterly alone. Even Felix, who had once been so charming, was now cold and distant.
"Why?" she whispered. "Why is everyone treating me like this? Is it because I'm useless now?"
Anger flared through her despair. It seemed that everyone who had ever been nice to her had only done so because she was useful. Felix, even her own mother. While Faraday was alive, Harriet had secured so many profitable projects through him. After he died, she had immediately schemed for Brinley to marry Fairfax to maintain her foothold in the Yelchin family. Of course, Brinley herself had wanted Fairfax.
But what did her mother's attitude mean now? Did it mean that since a future with Fairfax was impossible, even the most basic familial bond was gone?

"You're a failure as a husband and coward as a Man" This is what i want to say in Fairfax hahaha you dont deserved a wife if you cant protect her...
Hahaha This plot of story i hate about, choosing another girl instead of your own wife is something unreal, you didnt considered your wife feeling, you didnt even trust her and later on you will say sorry?? Was sorry will fixed everything you've done? Was sorry fixed her heart? it was unfair for your wife, you must choose your wife whatever it is. You know your wife well more than anyone else and the only person she should lean on was the person who pushes her away...
