With them guarding Brinley’s pristine image so fiercely, who could possibly say anything to them? No one could.
“Now that you’ve all personally ripped off her ugly mask, you’re blaming me for not speaking up? It’s truly difficult being an outsider in the Yelchin family.”
That was the crux of it. She was an outsider, so whatever she said was useless. Whatever she said was wrong.
Every word Starla spoke was logical and devastatingly clear. She wasn’t accusing him directly, yet each syllable felt like a condemnation.
Just then, Darleen and Brinley appeared, their faces covered in fresh scratches. They had fought on and off all night and naturally hadn't been able to wake up early.
Xenia and Sally had already gone to work long ago. Those who were able-bodied wanted to finish their daily tasks early, as the evening cold was much harsher. They hoped to get back to the shelter of the basement as soon as possible.
Seeing Fairfax, Darleen’s face twisted in pain. “Fairfax.”
“Fairfax…” Brinley echoed.
Now that everyone knew her depression was an act and the whole situation had become so ugly, she couldn't bring herself to call him Faraday anymore.
Fairfax looked at the marks on their faces, which were even worse than yesterday’s. It was obvious they hadn't held back in their fights; they were going for blood.
“What are you doing? Get to work!” Darleen snapped at Brinley upon hearing her call out to Fairfax. Darleen now took every opportunity to vent her frustrations on Brinley, refusing to let her anger fester inside.
At the mention of her “demand,” Fairfax’s face turned pale with fury. Finally, he ground out, “Who did she kill? Who was it to you?”
He was direct. His eyes were fixed on Starla’s face, watching for the slightest flicker of emotion.
Ever since Starla had first accused Darleen of being a murderer, Fairfax had been wondering. For her to have such a strong reaction, the victim must have been someone close to her. Otherwise, why would she care so much about a person unrelated to her?
The momentary freeze in Starla’s eyes confirmed his suspicion.
Furthermore, Starla came from an orphanage. That meant she must have had family before she was sent there, right? She had never said she was abandoned by them.

"You're a failure as a husband and coward as a Man" This is what i want to say in Fairfax hahaha you dont deserved a wife if you cant protect her...
Hahaha This plot of story i hate about, choosing another girl instead of your own wife is something unreal, you didnt considered your wife feeling, you didnt even trust her and later on you will say sorry?? Was sorry will fixed everything you've done? Was sorry fixed her heart? it was unfair for your wife, you must choose your wife whatever it is. You know your wife well more than anyone else and the only person she should lean on was the person who pushes her away...
