She actually knew Mrs. Shipley?
And that laugh—that casual, bright smile on Starla's face as she spoke.
She was laughing at them like they were complete idiots!
If she was friends with Mrs. Shipley, that meant she knew everything Darleen and Xenia had been plotting behind her back.
She was literally treating them like clowns.
Starla caught sight of Darleen. Her smile faded slightly as she spoke into the receiver. "Alright, let's catch up when you're back in Yoran Country."
Starla hung up.
Though it was just a few words, the effortless familiarity between Starla and Mrs. Shipley proved they had known each other for a very long time.
Darleen trembled violently.
Starla put her phone down and raised a brow, not saying a word.
Darleen's hands curled into tight fists. "You... you knew this whole time?"
"Knew what? That you called Mrs. Shipley to tell her I was sleeping with her husband, hoping she'd fly to Marina City to ruin me?"
Darleen was speechless.
She really did know everything.
All the color drained from Darleen's face.
What did it mean to have your last shred of hope ground into dust?
Even after Mrs. Shipley's icy dismissal on the phone earlier, Darleen hadn't entirely given up.
She had rationalized that maybe Mrs. Shipley was just lashing out because her marriage was falling apart. She figured once the woman cooled down, she'd eventually come for Starla.
But now...
The hope was officially dead.
Hearing Starla casually joking around with Mrs. Shipley had shattered Darleen's entire reality.
"It's a shame, really," Starla said coolly. "I told you before—you won't live to see my downfall. But I will absolutely be yours."
Wasn't it the truth?
"Curious?" Starla asked dryly.
Darleen said nothing.
Was she curious? Yes. She had a sickening feeling that Kael wasn't the only powerhouse backing Starla.
There were probably countless other untouchable figures behind her.
"What's the point of knowing now?" Darleen whispered.
If she had known earlier, it would have been the greatest asset to the family.
But now...
The more she learned, the deeper her despair grew. She didn't want to know anymore.
She closed her eyes, swallowing the bitter taste of utter defeat. "Just kill me!"
She truly had no desire to live anymore.
The Shipley scandal was supposed to be the ultimate weapon, yet Starla was best friends with the wife.

"You're a failure as a husband and coward as a Man" This is what i want to say in Fairfax hahaha you dont deserved a wife if you cant protect her...
Hahaha This plot of story i hate about, choosing another girl instead of your own wife is something unreal, you didnt considered your wife feeling, you didnt even trust her and later on you will say sorry?? Was sorry will fixed everything you've done? Was sorry fixed her heart? it was unfair for your wife, you must choose your wife whatever it is. You know your wife well more than anyone else and the only person she should lean on was the person who pushes her away...
