As Starla approached, Herbert reached out and took her hand. "Just ran to the restroom?"
His tone was gentle, but his eyes swept over her face with careful scrutiny. When he saw no lingering distress in her expression, the tension in his shoulders finally eased.
Starla nodded. "Yeah. It's about time, right? Should we head to the gate?"
"Let's go."
He stood, intertwining their fingers, and led her inside.
All the way until they boarded the private jet, Starla acted completely normal. But once they were seated, she looked at him. "Still no news on Fairfax?"
It was a probing question. While in the restroom, she'd turned the timeline over and over in her head. She was almost certain that the phone call he'd taken outside had been from Fairfax. But what exactly had they been talking about?
Herbert glanced at her, reaching out to gently ruffle her hair. "No news."
Starla pressed her lips together.
None? Then who had he been talking to? What were they discussing that had to be kept from her? Was he hiding something?
"What's on your mind?" he asked, giving her hand a reassuring squeeze when she fell silent.
She shook her head. "Nothing, really. It's just... frustrating to head back to Yoran Country without finalizing the divorce."
To her, ending things with Fairfax meant a clean, legal break. But now it was left hanging.
Hearing the regret in her voice, Herbert's expression softened. "Don't worry. Your ties to him won't last much longer."
That brought her a small measure of comfort. She gave a slight nod. Yardley had already sent his own people to track Fairfax down. It was only a matter of time.
He answered it, and Caden's frantic voice came through the speaker. "Herbert, Fairfax probably headed to the Cyrus Sea."
"Are you sure?" Herbert's tone shifted instantly, sharp and focused. He hadn't expected the guy to pinpoint Fairfax's location so quickly.
"Not one hundred percent. It's an educated guess."
Herbert stayed silent.
"Look, I really tried my best! I have no control over what Fairfax does. Please, both you and Starla, just let me off the hook. Cut me some slack!"
Fairfax had totally screwed Caden over. At this point, Caden couldn't care less if Herbert's men found Fairfax dead or alive. He just wanted his own hands clean. If he didn't clear his name soon, his old man was going to skin him alive. Fairfax was the one who played dirty first; Caden was just returning the favor.
"He definitely went to the Cyrus Sea."

"You're a failure as a husband and coward as a Man" This is what i want to say in Fairfax hahaha you dont deserved a wife if you cant protect her...
Hahaha This plot of story i hate about, choosing another girl instead of your own wife is something unreal, you didnt considered your wife feeling, you didnt even trust her and later on you will say sorry?? Was sorry will fixed everything you've done? Was sorry fixed her heart? it was unfair for your wife, you must choose your wife whatever it is. You know your wife well more than anyone else and the only person she should lean on was the person who pushes her away...
Finally😊...
