With every word, Brinley's voice grew more vicious, her hatred entirely unfiltered. She genuinely despised Starla. Before finding this new safety net, she had been desperate for survival. But now that she had it? All she could think about was dragging Starla back down and crushing her.

Without giving Starla a chance to reply, Brinley hung up. Making threats like that meant she was actively plotting her next attack.

Starla glared at her phone. This woman was completely insufferable. Having her morning ruined like this meant she wouldn't be able to sleep tonight unless she dragged Brinley's mysterious backer into the light.

Storming out of her room, she spotted Garret. "Find out who helped her, right now! I want it fast."

She couldn't wait another day. She was seething.

"Understood," Garret said, noting her fury. "I've already set things in motion."
