A Widow's Poison, A Wife's Rebellion novel Chapter 782

"He didn't believe me, and then we got into a huge fight," Tanya fumed. A bitter edge crept into her voice. "Before I told you I was getting an abortion, I was actually having second thoughts. But now? It has to be done. We aren't even married, and he's already acting like this. If we actually tied the knot, the moment I had the slightest disagreement with his family, he'd blindly take their side!"

Starla couldn't help but draw the parallel. "His attitude sounds exactly like Fairfax's." Fairfax had always prioritized the Yelchin elders, blindly taking their side regardless of the situation.

"I'm already in Hansville City," Tanya announced.

"What are you doing there?"

"Getting the abortion! If I do it in Marina City, he'll definitely find out." After their blowout fight, she hadn't wasted a single second, booking the first ticket out of town.

"You didn't tell him about the baby, did you?"

"Why would I? We're breaking up anyway. There's nothing left to say."

Starla hesitated. It all sounded so impulsive, though Darian's reaction certainly warranted her anger. "Don't you think you should at least let him know?"

"Wait, what did you just say?" Tanya gasped, her voice completely stripped of its usual bravado. "He helped her? Are you sure?"

"I heard him making the call myself."

"But... why?!" Tanya was utterly bewildered. She would have believed it if Caden Larson or even Darian had intervened, but Herbert? It made zero sense.

"I have no idea," Starla admitted wearily. "If I knew, maybe it wouldn't be driving me this crazy. Or maybe it'd be worse. I just feel like he's been hiding a lot from me, especially when it comes to Fairfax." Right now, both men felt like strangers she couldn't trust.
