So he was just seeing someone.
They should have told her sooner... She would have slept so much better last night. It had been playing on her mind, making her think some massive crisis had hit the family to keep both her brother and father out all night.
As it turned out, it was absolutely nothing!
Still, Yardley Hoggart... in a relationship? A man like him didn't exactly scream romance.
When Garret mentioned the word 'dating,' Starla's mind immediately went to Herbert Farley and how complicated he was. Yardley was even more complicated! Who knew what dark secrets were buried beneath this so-called romance of his?
Garret nodded. "Yes, Mr. Hoggart is seeing someone."
"Who is it?"
She knew her brother had his eye on a woman—he had even bid on that Blue Diamond, claiming it was a gift for her. Starla had been dying of curiosity ever since. But since he had kept it so tightly under wraps, she assumed the woman wasn't from one of the prominent local families. If she were part of the Yoran Country elite, there'd be no reason to hide it. Mostly, she just wanted to know what kind of woman could possibly capture Yardley's attention.
Garret answered without a hint of hesitation. "It's Susanna Yelchin."
Starla froze.
She had just picked up her fork, but the motion stopped dead in the air. Slowly, she looked up at Garret, her posture entirely rigid. "Who did you say?"
"Susanna Yelchin. Fairfax's sister."
Starla's lips twitched. Once the shock finally registered, she sucked in a sharp breath. Susanna Yelchin. Fairfax's sister. This was... unexpected.
Starla had always liked Susanna. Back when the entire Yelchin family was making her life a living hell, Susanna was the only one who had ever spoken up for her. Because of that, Darleen had favored Xenia Yelchin even more, and eventually, Susanna rarely came home. Whenever she did, it usually ended in a screaming match with her mother.
However, Garret didn't leave. He stood off to the side, looking like he had something else to say.
"Is there something else?" Starla asked.
"Mr. Farley has put a hit out on Fairfax."
Her hand stalled again. She looked at Garret, saying nothing.
"Mr. Farley doesn't intend to let him live to ever step foot in front of you again," Garret added.
Starla's stomach plummeted. Not letting Fairfax live? That wasn't exactly good news. The thing was... after what happened with Brinley Seabrook, Starla was already having a hard time trusting the intel Garret brought her. Now, hearing that Herbert actively wanted Fairfax dead—that he was taking such lethal, extreme measures to erase him from the board—felt suspiciously like he was trying to cover something up.
She set her silverware down and stared at Garret. "Why do you think Herbert would issue an order like that?"

"You're a failure as a husband and coward as a Man" This is what i want to say in Fairfax hahaha you dont deserved a wife if you cant protect her...
Hahaha This plot of story i hate about, choosing another girl instead of your own wife is something unreal, you didnt considered your wife feeling, you didnt even trust her and later on you will say sorry?? Was sorry will fixed everything you've done? Was sorry fixed her heart? it was unfair for your wife, you must choose your wife whatever it is. You know your wife well more than anyone else and the only person she should lean on was the person who pushes her away...
Finally😊...
