A Widow's Poison, A Wife's Rebellion novel Chapter 819

Back in Marina City.

Darian Lynn hadn't returned to his apartment since blowing up at the Lynn estate the night before. He hadn't even called.

Tanya Mercer didn't care. She hadn't been waiting up for him anyway.

When she woke up the next morning, she packed her things, fully intending to leave. But as she walked downstairs, she found another woman sitting comfortably on her sofa. The housekeeper and the staff were treating the guest with the utmost respect.

Tanya recognized her instantly. Darian's mother had shown her photos.

It was Yulisa Moore. Darian's childhood friend. The 'tomboy' he always talked about. She was also the exact woman the Lynn family desperately wanted him to marry.

Showing up this early meant she had specifically come to intercept Tanya.

Tanya took a deep breath.

Hearing her footsteps, Yulisa turned around. A perfectly practiced, patronizing smile spread across her lips. "Ms. Mercer. Did you sleep well in Darian's house last night?"

Calling it *Darian's house* was a blatant territorial flex.

Tanya narrowed her eyes. She continued down the stairs. "Does he know you're here?"

"I see you know who I am," Yulisa remarked, ignoring the coldness in Tanya's tone.

Tanya didn't bother replying. She walked right up to Yulisa and stopped. The two women locked eyes. Yulisa kept up her sickeningly sweet smile, while Tanya refused to play the game, staring at her with an icy glare.

"You clearly aren't happy to see me," Yulisa sighed smoothly. "It's such a pity..."

She let the sentence hang in the air.

Tanya waited. She knew this woman hadn't come here to make friendly conversation.

Right on cue, Yulisa delivered the calculated blow. "It's a pity that I have the freedom to walk in and out of any property the Lynn family owns whenever I please."

Anywhere she wanted. A luxury Tanya definitely did not have.

"When she gave you that hundred dollars last time, you clearly missed the message. She sent me here today to make sure you finally understand."

"Oh, I understand," Tanya replied. "How could I not?"

The money had been pure humiliation. And Yulisa showing up today was just another tactic to force Tanya to face reality and give up.

"Then I trust your decision won't disappoint us?" Yulisa pressed.

"I don't plan on disappointing you. The one who's going to disappoint you is Darian!"

Tanya's voice was sharp and defiant. When it came to matters of the heart, she refused to look pathetic. She was making it crystal clear to Yulisa: she knew the Lynn family didn't want the baby, and honestly, she didn't want to keep it either.

Hearing that, Yulisa's smugness faltered. Her expression soured.

"Darian is going to be tied up at the estate for the next few days," Yulisa said. "This is your best window to get rid of it."

"That's a shame," Tanya shot back. "Because if I'm getting rid of this baby, I'm making sure he agrees to it himself!"
