Amos's tone dripped with mockery.
Yardley's patience with him had run dry years ago. Hearing that condescending remark caused his carefully restrained temper to snap completely.
"Don't force me to destroy Cyrus Sea!" Yardley snarled, every word laced with lethal intent.
Amos fell silent on the other end.
"Fairfax is dead," Yardley continued coldly. "Your people taking her means absolutely nothing."
"Fairfax said he wanted her to live the life she wants!" Amos retorted.
"What kind of life is that?"
What did Fairfax know about what she wanted? The man was dead. How could a ghost dictate the desires of the living? When Starla was actually by Fairfax's side, he hadn't had a clue what was going on in her head. Now that he was gone, he suddenly had it all figured out?
"You're cold-blooded. You lack basic humanity," Amos stated bluntly. "You expect everyone to fall in line with your twisted worldview. To you, there is only profit. Right and wrong don't even exist."
Anyone who brushed shoulders with the Hoggart family knew they were emotionally bankrupt. They only measured the world by what they could extract from it. Living with people like that was a nightmare.
"Is that any of your business?" Yardley sneered. "It seems you haven't learned your lesson from what happened years ago."
Even though Fairfax had already paid the price for crossing Licht, the old general wasn't the forgiving type. He wouldn't let Starla off the hook, especially since the fallout from Marina City hadn't been fully contained.
Garret stayed quiet, unsure of how to respond.
Yardley lit another cigarette. "Keep a close eye on the borders. Especially figure out exactly where Amos's people are trying to stash her."
Since it was Amos's extraction team, smuggling her out of Yoran Country was inevitable. Once she crossed the border, Yardley's greatest fear would become realityโthey would have absolutely no idea where she was.
"Yes, sir," Garret replied, the hesitation in his voice proving just how much of a headache Amos's involvement was going to be.

Hahaha This plot of story i hate about, choosing another girl instead of your own wife is something unreal, you didnt considered your wife feeling, you didnt even trust her and later on you will say sorry?? Was sorry will fixed everything you've done? Was sorry fixed her heart? it was unfair for your wife, you must choose your wife whatever it is. You know your wife well more than anyone else and the only person she should lean on was the person who pushes her away...
